This is a DVD player. It will not write to DVD but will play discs you have recorded elsewhere. You could (with non-copy protected discs) dub the DVD to VHS. To go the other way, you would need to connect the player to a computer with appropriate software or other DVD recording device.

I hope this helps.

Need manual for toshiba D-vr 610 recorder

For VHS -> DVD dubbing, make sure that you put in a compatible writable DVD with enough space for the video. For dubbing a DVD to VHS, make sure that you have a VHS tape with the erase protection tab on the tape. Insert the blank media in the correct side and the media that you want to record in the other. Press Setup on the remote, then select the General Settings menu. Then select Recording and finally Dubbing. (Use the up/down arrows to navigate the menus and press Enter to select an option.) Select the type of dubbing that you want to do. Press Setup to exit. Then press the DVD or VCR button (with the item to record) and press play and pause when you reach the point that you want to start the recording. Then press the other device button and press the Dubbing button (on the remote or the unit). Press Stop when done recording the selection.

Note: copy-protected videos can't be dubbed.

Crutchfield and Toshiba both have the manual for the DVR-610 . Crutchfield has the manual here: http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/052/052DVR610.PDF . See page 49 for a set of screen captures of the steps for duplicating a video.

I hope this helps.

OUr Samsung SCL 810 Hi-8 Camcorder is flashing Lemg-Eject in yellow, but won't eject a tape. We know it is old, but we're trying to transfer all the tapes to other media so we won't lose them and now the...

I had a similar problem with a Cannon Optura PI and had to send it in. It was better, but I still have problems on occasion. If your intent is to transfer all the tapes to media, I would suggest purchasing Toshiba's DVD Video Recorder/Video Cassette Recorder. Model: DVR620KU. I use a VHS-C Cassette Adapter to play my VHS-C tapes in and the dubbed them to a DVD. Works great. Unfortunately, there is no 8mm/VHS Adapters, since 8mm, Hi8, miniDV are different formats with different technical characteristics than VHS. These formats were never developed with the intention to be mechanically compatible with past or current VHS technology. Your best bet would to borrow a HI-8 Camcorder and then dub your tapes to DVD's using the Toshiba machine. Here is a link to the Toshiba machine. http://www.testfreaks.com/dvd-players-recorders/toshiba-dvr620/
Good luck

I have a Magnavox ZV427MG9. I follow all directions in manual for dubbing VHS home movies to DVD but when I try to play the DVD back there's nothing on them. What am I doing wrong?

Depending on the procedure you may be pressing the record button instead of the D.Dubbing or Dubbing button. When recording from VHS to DVD you must first, load the blank DVD and VHS home movies, then play the VHS movies, then PAUSE the VHS movie when you want to START recording... then the only the you have to do is pressing the D.Dubbing button or the Dubbing button. If your VHS tapes starts to play after the Dubbing button is pressed you have been successful in Dubbing.

Transferring a VHS tape to DVD.

First - be sure you have a DVD RECorder unit and just not a playback unit- It must say recorder on the unit and your manual --
You need DVD-R dvds only to put into this unit.
The instructions are involved and include 5 steps--
1. Format the empty disc.-done automatically when you put any empty disc into the unit.press yes
2. Put on VHS mode on -remote-light VHS lights up on unit
3. Press Dubbing on the remote and press yes
4. When finished press stop on the remote- wait
5. Finalize the DVD- this must be done p. 27 and 28 in manual or see info in my other solutions.
All this process is in the manual on page.76
Have fun DD
