    I have Vista premium (new hp laptop) and when I tried to use yahoo voice ( Pc to phone option) it says Voice is not enabled message and it is not accepting my credit card to do the payment.



    Then I tried the same activity thru dial up thru differnet service provider and it was enabled , but I am not able to hear from other side. Should I Install the codec software ? I am using Vista compatible Yahoo messenger. Please send me a reply at [email protected] ....

I am using hp 2713tu model laptop where yahoo messenger installed. But voice chatting is not enabled due to my computer is not supporting voice compression. How i can solve this problem. If i can get a detailed roadmap, it will be more helpful.

Visit this freecodecs
site (or just simply google freecodecs),download and install the k-lite free codec pack for Vista.
Enable the bitstream options.
If you use a PCI soundcard,and video card, check the latest drivers for Vista on the manufacturer's website.

If you are working with a PC that has Windows XP, probably if the YM don't successfully install perhaps you need an XP Pack2 OS. The old version of the Yahoo Messenger will best fit the older Windows Professional. If you need to upgrade yahoo, format your computer with XP P2 or other higher versions like Win8, Win Vista etc.

Also send this to your family and friends so they have their computer setup properly.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.
A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/) set it up as follows:
  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.
B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://ca.messenger.yahoo.com/download/ ) set it up as follows:
  1. Click on Messenger at the top left and then go down to Preferences and then the Preference Window will come up.
  2. Next click on Calling and Devices. In the Calling & Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card or sound device installed in the computer.
  3. Just below that, go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.
  4. Then after completing the Audio Setup, go to down and click on Webcam.
  5. After make necessary settings, click on APPLY, then on OK and it should be ready to use.

Windows vista problem
vista is not much different to xp ... it just has a load of extra trimmings that you dont really need.
try checking your sound card drivers and make sure yahoo is set to use the appropriate device.
Vista also is an operating system that takes up a lot more disk space. Bill gates likes to sell stuff that you think is improved but really its just an excuse for them to make more money.

Audio compression and windows vista
Does that message appear also when you're on a private voice conference? If it is, try to update your copy of yahoo messenger. If that doesn't solve the problem, try re-installing the driver for your soundcard.

Easy soultion....

You just have to do one of two things.....

1. In your computers AUDIO settings, simply select UNCOMPRESSED audio format.

or

2. Install an audio codex pack. You can do a google search for those and simply download and install.....Problem fixed!
