Hi,

This style of failure with the CX80h6 and indeed other CX80 & SX80 series SHARP 80cm sets is usually due to problems with the PIP (picture in picture) sub-board. This small board plugs vertically into the main left hand PCB (seen from rear of set) and is sealed in tin-plate for RF shielding. I've had two CX80h6 sets recently with this exact failure and both had problems with the PIP sub-board. One needed a new regular on the board while the other had a dry joint on the connector. This sub-board is not available from SHARP anymore, but in most cases the failed component is a discrete that usually can be sourced in it's own right. So this sub-board is where I think you should start your fault finding.

Regards,
Romsey

Re my previous post, I intended to type "regulator" not "regular" with reference to the failure of one of the two PIPs I fixed, the 7808 device that is present on the PIP PCB.

    Thanks

T.V. won't allow me to adjust color and sound...

Chepe_77,

You are absolutely correct. The reason why you cannot change your audio and video settings are due to the fact that you are in "Dynamic Fixed". Which is one of your many av modes. Av modes are different preset color settings and dynamic fixed is the only one that will lock your settings. Best Buy set it that way so that people could not just come by and alter the settings on the unit. AV modes are on all sharp lcd products and even though you have the wrong remote you should have an av mode button on the remote that came with it. Try pressing the av mode button and see what happens. When you press the av mode button, you will see your av modes change at the bottom of the screen. However, the issue still remains that you have the wrong remote. So there is a chance that you may press the av mode button on the remote that you have, but it still will may not work ONLY because you have the wrong remote. If the remote you have does not work, I GUARANTEE that pressing the av mode button on the proper remote will take care of that. If you dont want to purchase the remote from sharp, www.partstore.com is a good place. Good luck to you

Connection problem to tv

For this to work please make sure your TV is tuned to its "AV" input channel. It will not display a picture on any of the normal tunable channels.

Toshiba 46HM94

The lamp has to be lit for the OSD to be present. the video processor is likely where the problem lies. I would suggest one of the following circuits SD Ram Circuit, Scaler input and or Capture circuittry and quite possibly the light engine itself all though the light engine would be very last on the list.

Tv seems ok by static and now, no sound (or very faint)

The problem you're describing sounds like a tuner problem. BUT you say that you have the same problem with A-V input too. That's weird!!! Possibly the electronic TV-AV switching circuit is messed up and stuck in the TV (tuner) position. If this is the case you DO have a tuner problem and a switching problem too.
