Sounds like a driver issue....go here for fresh ones(you'll need to dig a bit, behind the printer drivers link).

I see the word hp webcam at the top of my laptop...hp pavillion dv 6000 but wen i go to quickplay i don't see the device...wen i look at the device list it is not listed

On the My Computer properties window, click on the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
Click on the plus ( +) sign next to Imaging Devices and locate the webcam item in the device list.
If the webcam is not listed, do the following activities to install the driver using the webcam driver recovery.
Click Start, click All Programs, click PC Help & Tools, and then click HP Application Recovery.
Select Driver installation and click Next.
Select the HP Webcam 1000 driver from the list, and click Install.
If the webcam is listed under Imaging Devices but there is a red X on the icon, the webcam is disabled. See figure below.

Hello i have a hp pavilion tx2000 but my webcam doesnt work what can i do about it

Try reloading your webcam drivers. If you enter your device manager, look for imageing devices, if it is being seen by the unit, you may have a software problem.
Try, quickplay and see if you show it their.

Integrated Webcam Wont Work

It sounds like a missing driver. That is probably why it tells you that no device has been detected. Try reinstalling the driver for it.

Webcam not recognized

Ok, since I figured it out I will answer my own question for others' sake.

Webcam does not show up under "imaging device" in the device manager.

It does show up under USB controllers.

Right click on webcam and update driver.

Click Browse my computer....
Click Let me pick from a list....
Select "USB Composite Device"

Voila. Works in Quickplay, Skype, etc.

HP webcam dv6000 is not working properly

Weird but worked for me for yahoo and messenger but not quickplay. If you have the Chicony web camera, follow these steps to download Acer webcam drivers.

1. Download Acer 5210 Chicony Webcam drivers.

2. Run the setup file.

3. Follow installer prompts then RESTART PC.

4. Ignore the 'installing drivers' popup.

5. Open up the Control Panel.

6. Open up the Device Manager.

7. Select webcam from 'Imaging Devices'.

8. Right click on webcam and select 'Update'.

9. Select 'Browse computer for driver'.

10. Choose 'Let me pick from list of devices on PC'.

11. Uncheck 'Show compatible hardware' checkbox.

12. Scroll down to Chicony manufacturer.

13. Choose the 'Acer Crystal Eye Webcam'.

14. Install even if a question pops up.

YOU ARE DONE AND ENJOY YOUR CHATTING WITH ACER CYRSTAL EYE WEBCAM.
