Question about Sewing Machines

1 Answer

I have a Juki DDL-555. I think there is a problem with the timing. The thread on the top keeps coming out from the needle and in the bottom thread is loose and puckered. Some stiches are ok but most are not. Can't find a manual on line to help either. Cathy.

Try putting the bobbin in the other way, you may have it backwards, also you have to pull the threads out at least 6-inches from the needle before you start sewing or the thread uptake lever can pull the thread out of the needle.

Hi I just purchased a used Juki DDL-555. 1) It will not catch the bobbin thread. 2) it will not sew forward and feed the fabric along (it sews in reverse just fine). Can someone please help?

the material movement is set by the forward/ reverse knob or lever
not picking up the thread can be needle thread tension too loose
it can be needle hook timing

I am using a Juki DDL 8700 thread to tight & not pulling through needle & cactching bottom thread

needle too small or machine out of time. to time machine theres a mark on needle bar. lower needle bar till mark shows and raise bar till even with bar guide. take off feeder plate so u can see needle in relation to hook. when mark on needel bar is even with bar guide the hook should be 1/16 fron passing the needle. if not loosen 3 screws and trial and error it to get it right. use a small screwdriver and tighten just on screw when u hab aglined the hook to needle. do a full rotation and watch where needle is and needle bar mark. needel should be as clost to hook without touching.

My wife broke several needles on her Juki DDL 555 machine and I need to know how to adjust the timing as she put a new needle in and the point was damaged

First thing to check is if you've got the right needle system: http://partsbooks.sewingmachine.com/Instructions/Juki/Industrial/DDL-5550%20&%205530%20Instruction%20Manual.pdf and that the needle is correctly oriented... the scarf has to be precisely set.
The next things I'd check are the stitch cycle -- hand crank the machine through the normal stitch cycle and see what's hitting. Then fix that. I've got my suspicions this may be a needle bar height adjustment. Don't thread up for this test... misthreading can also cause the needle to hit something and break, so start with the fewest possible variables first.

How to set timing and bobbin in my juki ddl-555

hi there
when you need to set timing please first make sure height of needle bar is ok. there's two mark at needle bar, the upper one is for height of needle bar: bring the needle bar at lowest position and in this case the upper mark must be equal with lower needle bar bushing.
second : set timing
move hand machine pulley at the same rotation and when the lower mark equal with lower needle bar pushing the tip of hook must be at the center of needle groove and just light touch not hit. that's all

Regular sewing machine needles. Choose the needle type and size according to the type fabric or thread being used.

My thread is breaking when I'm sewing on my Juki DDL 555

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT NEEDLE FOR THE THREAD YOU ARE USING, AND THAT THE SAME THREAD IS ALSO IN THE BOBBIN. CHECK UPPER TENSION, BY PULLING SLIGHTLY, IF IT'S TIGHT, LOOSEN THE UPPER TENSION.YOUR THREAD MAY BE THE WRONG SIZE OR TYPE FOR THE SPEED YOUR SEWING., and the needle your are using( sorry about the caps lock)
