We have a new CK31 Intermec scanner that we can't get the : colon to work. If we key a colon, it acts as a backspace. Do we need to map a function key to equal the colon?

Why doesn't it scan?

usually you need to configure the reader to tell it what kind of barcodes you want it to read and how to interpret & output the codes to your computer (whether you need prefix or suffixes to your codes( for automation))

the user manual for the reader has some bar codes to configure the settings for the scanner.

Can't connect CK31 to Barcode software

Hi Chris,

You need a few things to be able to connect your Intermec CK31 to a server and all the settings are within the "Intermec Settings" within the terminals control panel.
First thing to start with is the wireless profile, set this up to match your current access point wireless settings, SSID, Encryption Type, Key etc. You can also set your wireless IP. Once this is done there will be an icon in the taskbar that shows connection and signal strength. Depending on the firmware revision of the terminal you should be able to use the tools to ping a device on your network, if the server responds to a ping then you should be able to get to your server when you try and connect.

I hope this helps.

Scanner reads some barcodes (black and white, larger barcodes), but not smaller barcodes that are black w/gold background.

Acutually, some kind of conbinations of bar color and background color will prevent barcode readers from accurate scanning. So I think you should check whether your color combination is feasible first.
I want to attach an image, but it is too big to upload.

Bar code reader problem

In the user manual for this device there should be a code book (or code pages), These are a selection of barcodes which you use to configure the device. One of the settings is to omit the barcode header (which indicates a type of barcode for instance a PART number might begin with P or a Serial number might begin with an S) This barcode system may have been initially programmed to omit these code letters Gareth
