** suction The best way to describe it is that when I was vacuuming I could see dust clouds at the front of the vacuum where the light is swirling around in the air. It was like it was blowing dust around instead of picking it up. I checked the tubing and found that it was clogged with some paper and hair ***** etc.... So I cleaned it out and tried it again and it still was not picking up properly. I had my husband take all the tubing apart to check for other clogging and there was none. When I put it back together and used it, I thought it was better but now its leaving like a little pile of dirt or whatever when I turn it off. If I turn it on and sweep over the dirt pile it will pick it up but when I turn it off it like drops out of the vacuum on to the floor.

If your Electrolux vacuum is losing suction from its wand then most likely there is a clog in your vacuums hose.

Stretch out your vacuums hose as far as you can to unblock any clogs. If there is a clog in a hard to reach spot try using a broom handle to reach the area.

Another area to check is your unit's dust cup. Allowing for fine dust and debris to rest in your unit's dust cup for a long period may cause your unit to become clogged, which leads to poor or even no suction for your vacuum. Empty your dust filter after every use to promote optimization in your suction.

Air filter:
If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up dirt and has no suction the air filter might be clogged. Remove the filter and either clean or replace it as needed.
Exhaust Filter If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the exhaust filter might be clogged. Remove and clean the filter, replace it if its torn or damaged.


Vacuum Hose If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the vacuum hose might be clogged. Remove the hose from the vacuum cleaner, stretch it out straight, shine a bright flashlight in one end and try to see light through it. If no light can be seen, use something to run through the hose and free up the obstruction.
Vacuum Bag If the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the vacuum bag might be full. Clean or replace the bag as recommended by the manufacturer.

Dust Cup AssemblyIf the vacuum cleaner won't pick up and has no suction the dust cup assembly might not be installed tightly, or it might be cracked or broken. The dust cup must seal tightly in order to produce the right amount of suction. If it is cracked or broken, replace it. Most glues and adhesives will not successfully seal the crack.

this is caused by a dirty air filter and/or a blocked vacume hose ( most of the time the blockage is at the bend where the hose enters the floor sweeper area ) ---
remove and tap out and brush the filter ( or use a air compressor to blow out filter ).
then with the vacume on its side - remove the bottom plate ( like you were going to change the belt ) and use a coat hanger and clean out the hose between the floor sweeper and where the suction hoes attaches. this will restore your vacume to full operation.

Hi there VacuumGuru from Vacuumspot.com.au here. You will find there are 2 reasons will not spin in a dyson DC05. 1 is that it is missing one of the 2 parts in the dust container, there should be an upside down funnel in there and a rubber boot on it. Without those dust just goes either to the bottom of the bin or to the filter. The 2nd cause is that even though the filters have been cleaned they are simply too old. When you hold the washable filter (the one with the plastic outer and the foam insert) up to the light and take out the foam bit you should be able to see light through the filter. If not you are probably only running on maybe 80% suction which still works but isn't as good as it could be.

I believe you have a clogg in the suction pipe.

Check the main filter cone - if it has a rip in it, then there won't be any suction in it, also clean it gently with a paint brush to get all of the dust out and check the back of the upright after the bin is taken out as sometimes there is dirt clogged at the back. Check the front of the sole plate i.e. where the roller brush is and check the dust channel behind this as it can get clogged. Due to the nature of this vacuum with the hose being located at the front of the floor head dirt can be trapped but most of all its the paper pleated cone filter that needs a good brushing. you have a clog in the hose take the screws out of the hose retainer and take a yard stick and run it into the hose to get the clog out

Roomba does much of its cleaning by the brush and roller on the bottom, but an important part is the little fan at the back of the debris bin which provides 100% of the 'suction.'
First, take off the vent cover on the back of the debris compartment and start Roomba on a mission. You will see the little turbine spin (if it's working) and probably a little dust cloud will come out.
It may not be working at best efficiency, however, because dirt gets sucked into the housing and blocks much of the air flow. Now that you know what the fan/turbine looks like (it's quite small, only the size of two stacked silver dollars), peer down into the larger opening of the debris bin and view the turbine from the other side. Chances are there's some crud stuck down there which is impeding air flow. (There's a hollow part of the turbine where the air is sucked into before being expelled out the back, that's probably filled with pet hair/dust/etc.) Clean that out using a long knife, chopsticks, or anything else that can reach down in there. Bang the dust bin down (lightly) to dislodge any more hair that's up there and continue cleaning until it's all gone.
I've had 3 Roomba's and they all get hair stuck up there. I only have to do this once a year or so (multi-cat and dog household here!) but it makes all the difference in the world.
