Kenmore Ultra Fabric Care Heavy Duty 80 Series washing machine (Model # 110.92389200; Serial # CF 1122814) went through the wash cycle completely, but rinse not the rinse cycle. Motor was going but washer not spinning. Also smelled something like burnt rubber. Could the belt have gone out? Is this something that I can fix myself?

This can be one of three things:

1. The pressure switch / level control

2. The motor / motor switch

3. The timer assy.

4. The lid switch is not functioning.

The most probable suspect at this time would be the lid switch. As you just open or just close listen for an audible "Click" of the lid switch. If there is no click you will need to have the lid switch replaced. Note: The unit will not agitate or spin if the lid switch has failed.

You did not mention if the unit would drain and spin or not. That information would help in isolating the problem. Also the exact model number please. Example (110.XXXXXXX)

If it drains and spins then the most likely suspect(s) would be:

(in order of precedence)

1. The pressure switch / water level control.
2. The timer assy
3. The motor

All of the above 1, 2 and 3 would have to be troubleshot with a meter before replacement.

Thanks for using FixYa.

My kenmore 80 series washing machine makes a horrible noise and cold side fills about half speed when filling with water. What should I check?

For the slow water issue, you will need to replace the water inlet valve. Here is a link to the part.
Could you describe the noise and where it is coming from?

Kenmore 80 series

Look inside the pump. Smething might be in it. If you incorrectly installed the couplings too tight against the tranny or motor then the resulting bind will cause the problem.

Kenmore 80 Series draining problem

Check the following before replacing the timer.

1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.
