I have a Sansui TV model DTV3200. Vertical foldback. Replaced vertical IC LA7847---did not solve problem.The CRT is fine. Thanks for any assitance you can give me.

Fold back means u have to check power supply to v/ ic 25v. if it is ok,,, u have tochange all capacitors in vrtical section,, sometimes feed back resistors may be fauty,,check them also

It might be the power supply is going bad or that the picture tube is needing to be replaced and is starting to not work anymore. Or cascade failure were several parts don't work anymore for the power supply inside of the TV unit.
Check and replace the vertical scan output IC. Check related capacitors, and solder terminals at the vertical scan output section circuit for any loose soldering. Check the voltages at the vertical scan output IC. Refer its circuit diagram [schematic] for more details. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. It sounds that the kit is a Chinese one. Check the voltage to all terminals of vertical output IC. Check and replace it. This is a common problem to these kits.
The vertical output IC will have a number printed on it. You mus send this number to get a new one. Normally, all vertical ICs are available from local electronic spare part selling shops. It is not a difficult to get component. Won't cost more too.

The problem of your teevision is what we called the vertical line problem.The problem is in the vertical section of the board.There are many of cause of that problem.First is either loose connection,the circuit at the vertical section have cold solder so its need to resolder using soldering iron.Second,it maybe no vertical supply,its better to check the 12 volts dc supply of vertical ic output.if thers no supply in the ic,there a open resistor near the flyback.try to replace.Third if theres no loose connection and have a voltage supply the problem is either leaked capacitor or deffective vertical ic output.
Commonly in that problem is the loose connection,try to resolder the verical section.
Power supply board have problems,just not dead yet.Replaced the power supply board,will solved this problems.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement. Hope this helps in solving the problem....Take care.
that is usaually a component in side the board called a capacitor that bursts due to high voltages passing thru it. so u will need a technician to replace it for you at a cost
