top loader leaking ?? this is unusual !! I did have a top loader leak once (not maytag) that the operator overloaded it and allowed it to try and spin dry , it shook unattended so bad it shook loose the hose connections from drum to pump , id suggest checking exactly were it leaks from with a flashlight looking at machine with back off ,while its running , use only your eyes !! for safety !
Need more information. What type of leak (fast, slow, seep, etc.), when does it leak (when it is filling, draining, all the time, or don't know), and where is the leak coming from? If water runs out as fast as it is filling, you may have a drain hose that is ruptured or has disconnected. If it is a very slow leak, you may have a connection that is working loose. Or, it could be as serious as a hole in the outer drum. Is this a top loader or a front loader washing machine?
If it is a front loader, then remove the rear panel, remove the belt, and soin drum by hand, if it feels rough, or is noisy and rumbling, then the main drum bearings have failed.
This is a major repair.
pull off the front cover and look for origin of the leak,if its a top loader, likely source is the main tub seal ( youll see leakin from center shaft while in spin)
you need to get the front off... grap a light and get down and look inside to find out whats leaking... with out looking its just guessing
check all water hose connections, water pump, and main seal where transmission goes thu drum
If the main seal is leaking there will typically be a splash line around the inside of your washer cabinet.
There is a special wrench available for removing the large nut that holds the inner basket in. This nut is aluminum and can be removed with a chissel if it is stuck. remove the inner basket and you will see cone shaped "NUT" that is covered in cork. There is a torx screw on the side of the cone shaped piece. once the screw is removed then the cone shaped nut can be removed using the special wrench and brute force.
