Our Hitachi L32A01 tv suddenly broke. It seems it doesn´t receive any signal from anything, including our tv-box and a PS3. The screen is all black and occasionally it turns blue, it looks like it´s trying to find a signal. It also seems to make a werid sound now and again. We tried unplugging everything but the power and that didnt change anything. Any help would be very appreciated;)

SOURCE: Hitachi 32LD8700 - TV won't turn on although has power

The general problem with LCD type TV's is that the power supply fails. They are very sophisticated designs that are difficult to troubleshoot and generally best to just replace the module, but sometimes there is visible damage in some of the electrolytic capacitors (visibly bulged) and high voltage rated parts can be substituted.

SOURCE: Black out?!?!?

I finally got information from the repair shop. Apparently it is the upper and lower panel drive. The parts are supposedly not more than a couple hundred dollars, though I'll let you know when I get the bill. I do want to say that Hitachi was great when I called them. Even though my plasma is out of warranty by a few months, they agreed to pay for parts if I pay for labor. That just might keep me buying Hitachi products despite the issues I've had with my 2 plasmas.

The TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

Is there a cord that connects my tv to my dish box? It is a VIP 211k.

Ethan Lensch,

I can definitely provide more assistance with this. The TV doesn't connect to the dish itself. The cable from the dish goes into a switch, then from the switch it runs in to your receiver.

On the back of the receiver is a "SAT IN" slot. Verify the cable plugged in there is hand tight, and follow it back making sure any other connections you see are tight. If the signal doesn't return, unplug the receiver for 10 seconds and plug it back in.

If the signal is still out when it powers back on, run a check switch test. This is done by going to Menu > System Setup > Installation > Point Dish > Check Switch > Test. When it is done it will either go back to the Check Switch screen, or give you a message. If it takes you back to the screen, exit out and see if signal returned.

If the signal still isn't returning, or you get a message saying "Fewer satellites dectected", let me know here or by email at [email protected] and I can look into getting a tech out to fix this!

Second level tv has a signal but the main tv on first floor has no signal.

Hello! It sounds like there are a few things that could actually be going on. If you are getting no picture on the TV(you have a black, blue, or snowy screen), you will want to make sure that the TV is on the correct channel and/or input. You will want to be on channel 3 or 4, and possibly on a Video 1 or 2 or HDMI 1 or 2 input. If that doesn't work, then try unplugging the receiver from the power source for about 10 seconds. If you are still not getting a picture, let me know!

If you have a signal loss message on your screen (Signal has been lost, Partial SIgnal loss, COmplete signal loss, or Acquiring signal), you will first want to unplug the receiver from the power source for 10 seconds. You will get the Acquiring singla message as the receiver reboots after you plug it in, but that should only be about 5 minutes at the most. If you get the message after 5 minutes, you will want to make sure that all of the cables going from the back of the receiver to the wall are tight. If that still doesn't do it, please let me know!

I would like to know if the Hitachi 51UWX20B television can be connected to the internet.

Your Hitachi 51UWX20B is an HDTV-Ready TV. No Digital Tuner. HDTV-Ready means that your TV set is capable of displaying analog and high-definition digital pictures, but without a digital tuner, it cannot receive the digital signal. An HDTV-Ready requires an external high-definition TV receiver (digital tuner) in order to receive HDTV signals. These external receivers can be called an HDTV Tuner, set-top-box, decoder or DTV Converter Box . So you will be required to purchase a converter box to receive over the air programming from an external antenna.

Problem hooking up my Yamaha RX-V461 to my PS3

When you connect the optical cable to the ps3 you must change the output to optical on the ps3. To do this, startup your ps3 then go to settings then audio output settings and change it to Digital Out (Optical).

No signal on TV2 with dishvip622.

If the blue light on the receiver is on then your tv is most likely on the wrong channel after checking cabeling i would do a reset on receiver first wait for it to come back on, then run a channel scan on your tv2 you can do this with orignal tv remote under the menu options. its also refered to as a auto search or auto program.

Hitachi 43 Rear Projection

Steve, I would say that the problem is with the Direct box, simplest way to verify that would be to disconnect the box from your set & hook-up a DVD player to the tv and run it, if the picture is normal, probably the box. That test does not rule out the tuner in the tv but is a start. Have you tried re-booting the box by removing the AC cord from the box for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in ? Be advised it may take as long as 5 minutes for the box to boot back up once you plug it back in, try these things and let me know results, BMW Rider
