The USB and Aux. connections are on the back of the unit. Here is a website with the specs for it.

I am installing kenwood kdc-mp443u. it is flashing protect and i can't remove it. can you help please?

A speaker wire has a short-circuit, crossed, or touches the chassis of the vehicle it activates the protection mode function.
? Wire or insulate the speaker cable properly and press the reset button. If the "PROTECT" code does not disappear, consult your nearest service center.
I have attached a link for you which is for a free Kenwood KDC-MP443U instruction manual download. Nice receiver by the way!

Kenwood KDC-MP732 CD Player in protect mode how do i get it off had a blown speaker fixed it and still in protect mode

Protect Mode (Blink): The speaker wire has a short-circuit or touches the chassis of the vehicle, and then the protection function is activated.

Solution: Wire or insulate the speaker cable properly and press the reset button.

Here is a copy of the Instruction Manual for the Kenwood KDC-X790 and KDC-MP732.

I have a kenwood car stereo excelon kdc-x591 it says protect and does not play at all

Hi.

Protect mode start when the internal control circuit detects a fault, like a wrong voltage or a short. When protect is on the unit will not operate.

Disconnect car battery ground cable and check the wiring at the back of the unit, a contact in the connectors or a short on speaker wiring is common cause for protect mode.

When you disconnect the battery ensure that you have the anti theft code if needed.

Regards.

Ginko.

Security Code for Protect mode

Turn on the car so the radio is flashing "Protect." Look on the front / removable face of the stereo. On it you will find a small round hole - that's a reset button. Find a small paper clip, unfold the clip and stick it gently into the hole. The "Protect" will stop flashing, and Kenwood will be displayed. Unfortunately all your settings/presets will be gone, but at least the stereo is working again!

KDC-X591

Kenwoods are awesome. Read the manual, sometimes it gets confused with the Folder trees, if you have to many it goes crazy. It could also be the way the disk is burned, and how the songs are named. I beleive in display options too you can click how things are displayed i.e. folder, artist, song name, title, time. Read your manual.
