Transport Screw where is the ''transport'' screw on my GE front load washer??

It's just over a year old and has been doing this for most of the time. It's hard to pin point as it does it about every other time, no matter the size of the load.

The "transport or shipping" bolts are located at the rear panel of the washer. There are four of these bolts used to support the suspension system during the transport to prevent damage to the washer. These bolts are removed prior to the first use of the washer and caps are usually placed in the holes left by the bolts. When removing the bolts, remove the lower ones first then the upper ones. Keep the bolts and spanner, if there's any, for future use.

How old is your washer? The tub bearing is most probably worn out. Remove the rear access panel and rotate the drum pulley to check the source of the noise. You will feel from the pulley when the bearing is worn.

Post a problem regarding the noise but provide all details including the specific model number of the washer.

Make sure there is not a transport screw that you must remove before installing. This screw is designed to hold the laser still during transport. If there is not a transport screw more than likely there is a disk read error. Its nothing you did. Return it to the place of purchase and get another brand.

Hi there i lost the fixing screws for transport

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Spares Suppliers
You could try typing into your search engine/web browser '(make) washer spares' and you may be presented with a number of sources from which you can order. During the process you will be asked for the actual model number.
Alternately you could try telephone directories for spares suppliers but I would think the former would be more successful.
If push (literaly!) comes to shove you can always carefully push sacking/blankets into the back and around the drum, being extremely careful not to disturb or damage any plugs/wiring.
Good luck,
John C

How do you remove the old drum?

To remove the drum unit... First you need to release the transport tray ( as if you are removing a paper jam ) also, you need to release the developer unit as if you are going to add toner... Lastly, there is a thumb screw on the front of the copier or one Black screw ( philps head) remove the screw and the drum should pull straight out toward you and install the new drum unit and lock the transport tray & dev. unit and your done..... Good Luck

I am looking to buy a used 4 year whirlpool duet washer and dryer. Do you need transport bolts to move either? Also what capacity is the washer and dryer

The transport bolts are required to be installed before transporting the machines. This is to support the suspension system to prevent damage to the machines during transportation.

The washer has a capacity of 9.0 kg or 19.8 lbs with a volume of 3.7 cubic feet. The dryer's capacity is 7.0 cubic feet.

Moving across country. Want to know how to safely move my whirlpool duet washer. Have original huge screws. What to do with them?

The large screws you mention are called shipping (or transport) bolts. They need to be installed prior to moving the washer to prevent damage to the drum, drum supports or counter-weights. They are inserted in the back of the washer. There are some small white plastic transport covers that you will need to remove to see where the screws insert. You can view an exploded view diagram of your washer at The transport covers that I am describing are listed as item 26 under the "Top and Cabinet Parts" section.

In addition, its a good idea to remove any residual water from the wash tub and drain lines. If you own a wet/dry shop vac, an easy way to accomplish this task is to remove the drain line from the stand pipe at the wall and pull a vacuum on the line. This will pull any water that remains in the washer. This water can become stagnant if the washer remains closed up for any significant period of time. If you do not own a shop vac, an alternate method is to remove the clean out trap on the drain pump. Be prepared to place some towels down around the pump to catch any water. To access the drain pump, remove the toe panel directly below the washer door. This is done by removing the screws under the bottom front edge. With the screws removed, the panel will drop down, then come off.

NOTE: For better access to the panel screws, you can prop up the two front feet of the washer (a 2x4 works well for this).

The drain hose normally has a plastic saddle bracket that helps the hose keep its shape. On that bracket is a screw hole. Remove one of the top panel screws in the rear of the washer and reinstall with the drain hose bracket attached. This will enable you to ship the washer with the drain hose affixed to the back of the unit and not dangling.

When removing the fill hoses, leave them attached to the washer and tape them to the back panel of the washer. Or, remove them and place them inside the wash tub for safe keeping.

I hope I've given you enough information to assist you with your move. If you have any further questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

My washing machine spins violently and the ground

Possibly you still have the transport screws in. this causes havoc when load is in. or very unballanced load or possibly spring come loose . assuming you have a front loader. Definately one of those.
