AUTO FOCUS NOT WORKING. SOMETIMES IF YOU REINSERT BATTERIES THE FEATURE WORKS AGAIN

It sounds like the image stabilization feature on your Canon 10x30 IS binoculars is not working properly. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Make sure the batteries are properly inserted and charged. The image stabilization feature requires power from the batteries to work.
2. Try resetting the binoculars by removing the batteries for a few minutes, then reinserting them.

There is something wrong, but the camera does not know what.
This number is for all errors the camera can't handle.
Try the normal "reset" method as follows:
Like a cold boot for a computer, the camera can be "rebooted"
follow the following steps:
Switch of the camera and remove the battery.
Remove the memory card and the lens. (if possible)
Recharge the battery. Wait till the indicator on the charger indicates the battery is fully charged.
Check all contacts, if they are clean and shiny. Contacts (from battery and memory card, only to be cleaned with a dry cloth or cotton swab(s).

Reinsert the battery, reinsert the memory card and re-attach the lens.
Then switch on the camera.
If this does not help, contact a certified Canon repair centre.

maybe its on manual focus. take the batteries out and reinsert them

put it on the green auto program. If that still doenst help the auto focus is damaged

You can also bring it to a photo dealer and ask them how much it is woth if you trade it in. The will discover the issue and tell whats wrong

for free :) as long as you dont let yourself lure of course

Please make sure that you're using fully charged battery pack.
Remove the battery and reinsert after 1 minute.
Reset the camera by following the reset procedure from the manual of the Camera.
If the issue persists again, service is required

I experienced the exact same problem with my 100-300mm lens and I was never able to get it to work correctly again. In fact, attempting to use it further seemed to exacerbate the problem.

The further you zoom, the wider the aperture opens allowing more light for the camera to focus properly. If the aperture mechanism is damaged, the auto-focus process may not work as it should; which would explain why the auto-focus feature works only when at 18mm.

Regardless, I strongly recommend you discontinue use of the lens until a professional technician can examine the lens and figure out what's going on. I'm sure you can contact the manufacturer to open a support case or you can find a camera store that offers repair services.

try using the little throttle that is located just below your on/off switch. if you push that either up/down, it should help you manually focus your subject. It is actually a really fun feature to play around with.

Hi taylorrm, I don't know if you have a solution to this but sometimes the AE-L/AF-L but gets pushed which is the auto focus lock button then the shutter release button cannot be used to focus and yu have to reset by pressing it again.  Even though it's confusing at first it's a feature along with the AE/AF Lock to try out to lock your focal area on a subject prior to shooting.
To sbhoward5, check to make sure the switch on the camera body is switched to AF instead of M mode(looking at the front it's on the lower right hand side below the lens release button), which sometimes happens when changing the lens - so then the mode selected is in P,S,A, or M modes on the mode dial. happy shooting,

problem in lens censer replace it

ive had this problem before, on my camera it means that the lens isnt rotated all the way onto its engaging point on the lens mount... it gets a little loose and shifts out of the way sometimes...

FOCUS(MF) will display. 3. Turn the MENU DIAL up or down until the object is in focus. Zoom out a little if focusing is difficult. 4. To return to AF (Auto Focus: ), press the ENTER button again.
