Washer is Kenmore He2 model # 110.46462501

Washer is "stuck" in mid-cycle and will not drain and spin. Makes a grinding noise. After a few minutes, all lights around cycle choices flash. Drain water has had a bad odor for the previous month.

Hi,
It sounds like you have something stuck in the pump.
To repair
Unplug machine.
Remove bottom front panel(remove 2-3 screws in the bottom) Pull bottom of panel out and down to remove.
Towards the center bottom you will see the pump. On the front is a round thing that resembles a filter. This is the pump filter screen...Get a shallow pan to put under screen. Turn lid counter clockwise to remove(turn slowly and allow water to drain. As you may need to dump pan several times before all water is drained out. Be carful or you could end up with water everywhere. Once the water is drained pull out screen and remove the debris and objects stuck in screen and filter housing you should also be able to see the impeller on the pump inspect for debris. Once everything is cleaned out reverse removal procedures put back together.

Kenmore 90 plus series washer won't spin, barely agitates, will drain - but makes loud noise

It sounds like the transmission is done. Can't pinpoint what it is exactly, but I would start there.

Our washer isn't able to progress from the rinse cycle to the spin cycle. It makes a grinding type of noise, and then all the lights blink on. What I've been doing is turning the machine off and putting it...

It is taking too long to drain, most likely because the drain pump rotor has become detatched from the shaft. It could also have something stuck in it and rubbing on the rotor blades causing this sound. I recomend first acsessing the drain pump by removing the bottom front panel and unscrewing the front of the pump. Be careful because you will have water pour out the second you unscrew it, so grab some towels. If there is some obstructions in the pump, remove them and test it. If it does not work, replace the pump. Hope this helps you:)

Makes buzzing noise and won't spin or drain

Sounds like something is stuck in the drain pump.  If nothing is stuck in the pump replace the pump.  It won't spin until it drains, so fixing the drain problem will fix the spin.  You can get at the drain pump by taking off the bottom panel.

My kenmore HE 2 Plus washing machine makes a loud grinding noise when it enters the pre-wash/wash cycle (worse on this cycle) then continues on through the rest of the cycles. Washer fills, rinses, spins...

Unfortunately, I don't think you will be able to fix this issue, some mechanical parts are breaking. If your appliance still under warranty, you may need to contact the appliance manufacturer for assistance. This kind of repair can be expensive and is difficult enough so a service technician may need to fix it.

Won't spin, makes clunking noise, drains fine

If it agitates fine , with normal noise , drains with lid closed , then the problem is probably the transmission .

Weird rubbing or mild grinding noise when in spin cycle.

It sounds like the bearings on your tub are going. This is an expensive and difficult job to do. (approx $450 parts and labour and you may do more damage trying to take it apart)

Broken Washer

it could be the direct drive coupling that connects the motor to the transmission. fill it up with water and see if it will agitate, if it will NOT agitate then it is a good chance that this is the problem. 0404472.jpg

worse case scenario is the transmission is bad, but this is unlikely.

Kenmore Elite King Size Top Load Washer

If your washer fills, agitates, drains, but will not spin, the likely cause is the gear case (transmission). A new gear case can run about $200 just for the part. With labor, this could be a bit expensive to repair. I hope this helps you some.
