Replace it with another cap of the same value and voltage rating. Check other nearby components for damage.

Testimonial: "Was wondering why only one capacitor blew. If I change one are the others likely to blow too?"

  • Anonymous Mar 23, 2010

Not usually. One may have had a defect. If no other parts damaged, the replacement cap will fix the problem. Check the other caps for rounded or bulging tops, replace any found also.

Sharp primo tv 21 inch have power but no display?

You may have one or more capacitors blown. This is a very typical problem. Google "Blown TV capacitor" to see the pictures of a (blown) capacitor so you know what and where to look inside the TV.

Loud humming noise

this may be result of blown capacitor - have it analyzed by applying strong magnet over the inside speaker , if humming persists, then its not blown capacitor -- the capacitor stores energy, and if that energy is lossed an out in the airwaves, thats the humming effect

The machine has HELLO but will not start up. if i hold the on/standbye for a few seconds, the time will appear and then back to hello when I press play. All I did was put a tape in which I can not now...

Hello everyone having problems with there RCA DRC8335. If you are getting the HELLO sign and nothing else(which i was too).
First you have to find the blown capacitor. All the capacitors should have a flat top. If you find one that is not flat and if gets hot to the touch when your vhs/dvd player has power you found your source. Next unplug your dvd/vhs player and take out the blown capacitor. Do not waste your money tring to get it fix by a so call pro. The parts you need is less than .55 cents(lol). Now the capacitor that you take out should have a code number(mine was c226) which is located in the same area as the blown part. Measure the capacitor and call for your part number 1-800-344-4539 Digi-key.com will find the part you need(only if u know what part u need)
1.find the blown capacitor
2.remove it
3.get the number below the blown capacitor
4. measure it.
5.call for your part number
6.put your hard earn dollar(not dollars) to work
7.and you can say Thanks Maximilian Moore for saving me money

Dvd stays in "hello" mode

You have a blown capacitor in your machine. If you are good with a soldering iron, great, you can fix it yourself. Otherwise, find a friend who is good with a soldering iron. Parts should cost you less than $2 for a new capacitor. Replaced the blown capacitor in my machine, and my stuck tape popped out with no fuss once I powered the system back up.

Blown capacitor but....

Be sure you replaced the capacitor in the proper (+) (-) orientation. There is a half moon shape line on the board on one side of the capacitor legs, that is the negative terminal. If incorrectly installed it will not work.

In Focus IN72

The capacitor that is blown wouldnot be a 150V but a 450V. Dannol, I think you should really double check that as you most probably could be wrong or it most probably is a typo error.

The correct capacitor is a 104K450 NIS T83. 100nf (0.1uf), 10% tolerance and 450V rad polyester type.

Resistor on power supply board

Dear Biigjohn, First, first C613 means that it is a capacitor, not a resistor. And It seems to be a electrolytic Capacitor. If it has burst, then it's can will be inside. just search. the details of the Capacitor will be on it. most likely it will be a 10mfd 160V capacitor. Check and replace.
