I have an Onkyo TX-SR606 7.1 receiver with the following attached equipment:
1) Comcast cable box via HDMI
2) Vista computer via onboard DVI to HDMI - audio via Spdif
3) Samsung Bluray player via HDMI
an HDMI cable is output to a Vizio 47'' 1080P TV.
Speakers are Bose 5.1 with integrated passive sub
Here's the problem:
When I turn the receiver on, the only video that works is SD 480P or 480i. Any higher resolution signal just gives me a blue screen on the Vizio without audio. After about 4-5 minutes, the screen flickers and I get 720P or 1080i from the cable box or the TV. After about 20 to 30 minutes I get a 1080P signal from the Bluray player (or from the computer if I have the display resolution set that high). At that point the Onkyo works fine.
The unit is in a constant airflow front to back from a pair of 12v fans which are on all the time.
Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Please don't rate me for this. Onkyo has been having voltage problems with their HDMI boards in several models. Yours is one of them. They first instructed techs to replace some capacitors, then add some capaictors to repair the voltage problems. Now they want us to replace the HDMI boards but I have yet to receive any (on back-order) Sorry for the bad news.
I recently purchased a NR609. Giving the same problem. First one was all good except the HDMI out was not working at all. Second one, after exchange, works OK but screen flickers a lot some times. It works fine on other times. Tried multiple cables and settings. I dont have HDMI 1.4 cables, may be standard one. lCD tv is old but 1080p capable.
I am also having the exact same problem. Any 1080p video device needs to be transmitting a HDMI signal for quite some time before the receiver finally sends it to the display.
I can mitigate this issue by changing my video input devices down to 1080i, but this is a loss of resolution.
