How do i open the iron to get to the heating element?

  • Anonymous Mar 25, 2010

The screw in the front of the iron is under the fill door for the water. There is also a rubber guide for the door that has to be removed exposing the screw.

Look under the manufacturers stickers normally the screws are well hidden, but at the back of iron underneath there are normally two screws and a third that is in the handle once you remove the backplate

SOURCE: Rowenta DX-8800 will not heat. Location of heating element?

The heating element is incorporated in the base. Rarely is the heating element bad. Its usually a connection or control problem. You cannot just replace the heating element.

SOURCE: euro-pro EP1005 iron--iron heats -blower works-but no steam

You may not need a new iron, my wife's iron is doing the same thing. take the top of the ironing board off (you will need a torx t-20 security bit driver), under the tank is a connection that may have rusted out re-connet it and turn the iron on. Once it heats up, check the tank for leaks. The tank may need to be replace as well or try a 5-minute epoxy type glue on the leaks once it has cooled. If the tank leaks you will get not get enlugh pressure building up to get the steam.

There is no heat from the iron. Happened all of a sudden

Guess the heating element has burnt out. Or open it up and checck if the power is being delivered to the element. If being delivered then then the coil has burnt out.

Is no workig i needcramic heat control

1. you need a multi tester.
2. check the power supply of your outlet, or check the fuse or circuit breaker.
if has power go to 3.
3.open the back of your electric iron, the end of the cord or plug. then try to check the continuity of two wires if any is open. if its open or no continuity replace the cord or plug, either cut the only open wires and reconnect it again.
4. Or check the heating element of your electric iron if no resistance replace the heating element or you buy a new one.

My iron will not heat when plugged into to the wall socket. Tried different places. Light comes on but won't heat. press to reset light stays on.

try opening the iron and see if the wires are connected to the thermostat/heating element, if not you can easily tie them again, it sometimes happens when the thermostat fails to open the circuit and the heating elements over heat and causes a break in the line or heating element.

I have a DX 6700 that does not come on when plugged into the outlet.

Hi.

Either the wiring to AC power line is broken or the heating element is broken.

The heating element is tested taking apart the iron, disconnecting element contact, and reading impedance on element contact with a multimeter set at Rx1. If the element has no continuity (circuit open), then the element must be replaced.

If the power cord is fused (like for example in UK), check also the fuse in the power cord, try replacing it.

Regards.

Light comes on but iron won't get hot?

The heating element of your iron is either busted or
disconnected. If the heating element is busted, just
replace it. If it is just disconnected, you can easily
reconnect it using a screw driver. So, you can go ahead
and open the iron using your screw driver. Keep us posted by sending your e-mail and vote for this solution.
