I have 2yr old SAMSUNG LE40M86BD which has developed a thin vertical black line fault (2-3 pixel width) to the left of the screen. This disappears after 10 mins but is getting worse.
I have the same problem with the same model tv, just over 2 years old, and out of warranty, you should expect more than 2 years life from a tv costing around £700, i have just had an independent inspection done confirming a manufacturing fault rather than human intervention, and clearly not fit for the purpose for which it was sold, and sent it to a large retail park outlets customer service dept, i have been assured they will look into it, my 15 year old sony 32 inch wide screen crt still performs as well as it did when i bought it, but it is the size of a small family car so not easy to lug around, i guess they just dont make em like they used to,
The screen is failing. A conductive strip from a flex connector to the glass panel is losing contact when cold. Any warranty left? extended warranty? Usually not repairable, screen has to be replaced and cost as much as a new set....
yup, manufacturer's defect. Many of these hi tech sets have a short life....2 - 3 yrs before the first breakdown. Anything with a defective screen is not repairable. Cheap brands fail earlier and more often. Even some expensive sets fail shortly after the warranty expires. Best to get an extended warranty on these things.
