This the s/n L349866. can I shoot rifeled and smooth slug. The barrel is a smooth bore. Would like to know when gun was manufactured. Is it practical to buy rifled barrel or not.
Thank you.

I think you might have better luck contacting winchester support or one of the bigger gun stores or even an online gun forum as this isn't quite a spotting scope question ;-]

They should be able to tell you if the barrel is available and maybe how much or what dealer has one.
The 1300 was made from 1978 to 2006 so that should narrow down the date at least.
Testimonial: "I appreciate the information, some mentioned th "L" in front of the S/N designationing something but I dont recall thanks Dizzie78"
Hey there. Good weapon choice. I have one s# 333000 series. You can shoot any slug you want in a smooth bore but will have more acuracy with a rifled slug. it will create the spin that a rifled barrel would do. sabot slugs are safe to shoot but not as acurate as they do not spin. think of a football. The serial number issue is the same one i have no one really knows other than the manufacturer. And no i would not waste money on a rifled barrel. Hope that helps
Hi,
I'm sorry, but there are no published serial number year of manufacture information for the Model 1400. It was first introduced in 1964 and was offered in 12, 16 or 20 gauge with 26", 28" or 30" vent rib barrels. This Model was discontinued in 1981.
The new Model 1400 was introduced in 1989, was chambered for 12 or 20 gauge with either a 22" or 28" vent rib barrel.
The Model 1400 Ranger is a utility grade gun in 12 or 20 gauge, a 28" vent rib barrel, 24" slug barrel with rifle sights or a two barrel set. It was introduced in 1983.
The Model 1400 Quail Unlimited was introduced in 1993. It has a compact engraved receiver with a 26" vent rib barrel and checkered walnut stock.
The Model 1400 Ranger Deer Combo is a 12 gauge only with a 22" smooth barrel and a 28"vent rib with 3 win chokes.
Values for all are : excellent-$350, very good-$300, good-$250, fair-$200, poor-$125
Add 35% for the Plastic stock on the first model and 20% for 2 barrel sets.
Sorry I couldn't give you the year. The only way to get it is a factory letter from Winchester which will cost about $100.
I hope this information has helped you. If so then would you leave some good feedback for me.
Thanks,
Marty
