Magellan Maestro 4250 GPS, the display seems to wash out on sunny days so that it is unreadable. That's without direct sunlight on the unit. Can anything be done or adjusted?

Commen problem with this unit...

Dirty connector, but likely internal loose connection.......

If under warranty they will ship new one.

Try resetting the unit, there is a reset slot at the bottom of your unit and buy resetting it, sometimes this helps.

new up date for magellan 4250 just go to www.magellangps.com and click on unit gps thann download the f/m version 4.86 it is free and simple juste follow the step by step body good luck

is it plugged to AC charge when it comes on?

If not seek out the RESET hole and place a fine pin or paper clip end in and reset the unit

It is a Fast Fuse Glass type 5 x 20mm, 2A, 250v. Magellan 4250 can only take 1A of current at 5Volts Radio Shack

If I am correct you can put it on the sd card
There should be a slot for the card on the unit .
also you can check on their web page .

No a practical solution, but at least you will get your device repair, after being on hold for 40 minutes I spoke to a very nice rep, unfortunately evethough she didn't admit it, it seems a software problem with the new 2008/2009 map update, in other words no way to fix it, you need to send it for repair, make sure you tell them to update the device with the new 2008/2009 Maps, if not you will have the same problem later on, Good Luck
