I simplified the "getting rid of predictive text" instructions for people with the cheap STRAIGHT TALK LG phones! a)Push the message button directly above the SEND button. b)You\'re at the message screen to type in. c)click on "options," lower left of your message screen. d)click "text entry mode." e)then choose "abc," click on "set" which appears on that screen. You\'re done. You can now dang well type what you want. That\'s how people in the "factory default setting" department get their jollies!

Then go into Options & scroll down to Text Entry Settings and there should be an option that says T9 Word Prediction, go into that and change it to ON

Predictive text (or T9) is usually turned off by holding * or # for few seconds, or you may need to go to message settings and turn it off there. What kind of phone are you using?

Took me a while to work out. Hold down the hash key (bottom right on the keypad) when in the text window and select English from the languages that come up.
