I believe the blue lamp in my 57H81 is going bad.

I believe the blue lamp in my Toshiba 57H81 DLP television is going bad. The picture is fine, but the blue aspect is skewed to where the image looks somewhat 3-D. What do i need to fix this?

You need to replace convergence out chips in your Toshiba 57H81 tv by qualified tech because 3-D look picture in rear projection tv shows some thing wrong with convergence output chips.
Your tv model number shows it is rear projection tv that use 3 tubes to make color picture on front screen where as dlp tv use one lamp as back light source to present picture at front screen that is generated in light engine.

These tv dont have a bulb it is 3 ctr screen in side over time they can move. in the back is a black box with 3 screw on them one is red one blue and yellow. these will need to be adjusted. also on the blue ctr there is an adjuster that holds the the screen in place this can move over time this will align the screen back into place. as you have said it want to shake i would adjust the fist one i have said as that is more likely to be the fault.I believe the blue lamp in my 57H81 is going bad. - d7eba148-dc7b-40fc-854d-bc82951cebb5.jpgonthe setting menu there is a screen adjustment sometimes it just may need resting screen come up like this in manual mode but there is automatic mode as well which will put a cross in all 4 corners and set up screen by its self you need to do this some times so try this first.

My rear projection Tv has blue and yellow shadows on it..

What Year is this TV and is it DLP because if it is DLP your Light engine is bad Last Quote on that Part was $1800.00 and if the Lamp was Bad you can get them for $139.00 But Its Not The Lamp if you are getting a picture PROJECT TV has 3 TUBEs in Them Red/Green/Blue

Correct model number will be on the Back of your TV! Zenith DLPs are a Rich Mans Toy! UED might have light engine for $900.00-1500.00

I think you answered your own question. You have a rear projection television. It sounds like the lamp is not functioning correctly.
All projection lamps have a recommended life measured in hours. I checked the web and this model appears to be about 3 or 4 years old. from 2005 or so.
The lamp in my Samsung is rated at 3000 to 5000 hours, I had 12,800 when the service Tech was in changing another part.
3 or 4 years running one lamp is a good run. This is why DLP has lost favor for table top sets, Most are LCD or Plasma now.
Check you TV for it's lamp model and them shop around allot. Lamps are not cheap however some suppliers offer much better pricing that others. Care should be taken to make sure you order and purchase real replacement lamp and not a clone / compatible model. Original parts should produce the picture you are expecting

TV picture is red.

Normal color picture is composed with 3 colors R-G-B (Red-Green-Blue). Picture turns Red means: Missing Green and Blue colors (many reasons: bad contacts, projector tubes dead, and other...). Try to give some "tabs" to diagnose ... I don't know what is the type of your Projection TV, how long you owned it, to have more idea.

My Toshiba 57H81 has a 'jittery' picture.

I have the same prob need to change the resistors as a first resolution. there should be 5 of them, if you dont soon and i mean soon you could cause the skt to go bad and have to start over in your repair

Toshiba 57H81

Check all fuses in the power supply and look for any bad connrctions on the PCB. You are probably missing the 130 volt supply to the horizontal circuit. Common reasons are: Shorted horiz output transistor; flyback transformer, picture tube arcing , bad power regulator IC. In short, you need to get a qualified tech for this symptom. Hope this helps.
