Sounds like someone hit and broke the screen. Not repairable and not a warranty claim...
Testimonial: "not your fault that Sony robbed me blind with crappy product"
Take a digital pic of it and email to me. just add @hotmail.com to my name.
Could also be a screen failure but those are usually horizontal OR vertical lines, not both. If you get both, its more likely an impact to the screen.
That is unfortunately the nature of this new technology. Even a brand name is no assurance of a long lasting product. The no names are even worse, many failing shortly after warranty and many within warranty only to be replaced with another defective unit.
Still interested in seeing a pic of it.

I am the only user and resident exposed to the TV and it is safely in a case and I didn't move it or touch it. Just noticed the change when flipping through channels the other day and it seems to be getting worse.
I am at work today but will take a pic and send to you
I'll be home later tonight so wll try to post a pic then or tomorrow...thanks for the assist.
I sent pic to hotmail acct but got an undeliverable notice. can you confirm email.

changing channels seems to make the screen worse and more lines so wondering if my remote has anything to do with this.

Based on the information you have provided, it seems that there is an internal hardware malfunction within the TV.
