What program are you using to download your pictures ? Has the program and drivers been updated for windows vista?
try plugging the usb cable directly into the port not through the hub.
one of the problems is that with all of those usb devices connected you are pulling a lot of power. Get a usb hub that has external power, the one you have may have a plug in for external power, if you would like to post the model I can check for you.
That hub does have the ability to plug in an external power source.. I noticed on your posts you stated the Belkin (powered) hub. Does this hub plug into your surge protector to provide extra power? The manual for this model states that there is an adapter available but the hub itself is now discontinued. All usb hubs are powered by the usb bus in the computer but for high power items like a scanner an external boost of power is needed.

I have been working with HP on the problem. When I removed all the USB attached equipment, and then go to Device Manager to select the Root Hubs and then click "Uninstall", the problem went away. However, when I re-installed all the USB attached printer, scanner, and Belkin (powered) hub, the problem reappeared. I just finished doing this today, so I will remove everything again, and maybe reattach one item at a time, finishing with the hub. The problem occurs no matter which USB port I use.
When I installed the printer alone, the problem disappeared. When I installed the printer + scanner, the problem resurfaced. I removed the scanner, and installed the printer + Belkin powered hub, and the problem disappeared again. The scanner was causing the problem, although I would have assumed it was the hub. The Belkin hub model number is F5U234, but apparently it wasn't the problem. Thanks for your help!
