The waste ink absorber may be full, may not. But the message comes up on cannon printers after so many hours of use regardless. Just reset it.

STEP 1:- Disconnect printer from AC power
STEP 2:- Press and HOLD the POWER button, and connect printer to AC power
STEP 3:- release the the POWER button
STEP 4:- Press the POWER button again

Message" waste ink absorber"

There is an absorbent sponge in the bottom of your waste ink container to help contain the waste ink your printer generates when it cleans the print head nozzles. That sponge is probably full and has triggered a "most informative" error message!

Check your user's manual about the procedure for changing the absorber and where to buy new ones.

Waste ink near full

Well there WILL BE a reservoir on the machine that holds all the "waste" ink that did not make it to the paper. The message is refering to that reservoir. usually loacted in the inside of the machine downhill (as gravity goes) from the point of collection.

I have a Canon MP700 Printer. The message "waste tank nearly full" appeared. As I couldn't find any help in the manual I removed the ink cartridges to look for a "waste tank". ...

Dear miggsy,
Waste ink absorber capacity of your printer has rise to about 90-95 %. Tentatively, you can continue printing by pressing STOP/RESET button. When ink absorber capacity reach about 100%, the printer stop working and message 'Waste Ink Tank is Full' appears.
To fix this problem, you need to reset waste ink counter. It strongly recommended that you replace waste ink absorber after resetting waste ink counter.
Here are steps resetting waste ink counter of this printer:
  • With the machine power off, while pressing STOP/RESET button, press and hold the ON/OFF button. (Do not release the buttons).
  • While holding ON/OFF button, release the STOP/RESET button. (Do not release the ON/OFF button).
  • While holding the ON/OFF button, press the STOP/RESET 2 times and then release all buttons. (Each time STOP/RESET is pressed, the alarm LED and COPY lights alternately starting with alarm LED).
  • When the COPY button lights in green, press STOP/RESET button 4 times. (Each time STOP/RESET is pressed, the alarm LED and COPY lights alternately starting with alarm LED).
  • Turn off the printer.
Your printer should work normally now.
Regards,

first of all the error message is correct when it said that the print head is overheating, this may be cause or triggered by a full waste ink.

I get an error message on Canon i960 printer that tells me the waste ink tank full. How can I empty this myself?

Read it all here.
Scroll about half the page, to:
WASTE TANK ALMOST FULL or FULL ERROR MESSAGE PROBLEMThere is explained how to get rid of the error message very easy, and how to clean the waste ink pad manually. The latter seems not to be necessary, though.
