Cant connect the sony bravia hdmi with my ps3

In this configration you will not get surround sound. Because tv is not able to reproduse the surround sound through its out put from the HDMI input. You have to connect the HDMI of PS3 to the Onkyo receiver and the HDMI Monitor Out of the Onkyo to the TV. This can only done if the Onkyo AVR Have HDMI IN/OUT option.

If not the connect the Optical out of PS3 to any one of the optical input of the Onkyo receiver.
After that you have to goto the setup Menu the Onkyo and assing the optical input in wich you have conncted the PS3.

Aslo the following setting in PS3

Menu>>> Settings >>> Sound Settings >>> Audio Output Settings >>> Select the connector..= DIGITAL OUTPUT (OPTICAL)

Is it working when you connect it with the regular cables? when it does then the HDMI cable is at fault.

Thats in your routing of the wires. The way the PS3 is set up it takes precedence, and there is really no way around it. You have to turn off or disconnect the ps3 while trying to record.
Sucks.. but its the way it is.

i have sony bravia. i couldn't connect to my ps3 with hdmi cable. but i get only audio. i think it is with the tv settings. can you help

I have a sony bravia 42 LCD TV and cannot get it to take HD from my Virgin + box. We have put an HDMI cable as suggested which works with the PS3 but not with our box.

If you have an HDMI cable hooked up to the PS3 and the TV, you have to set the TV to the HDMI channel.

what exactly is the problem? no connections? or connected and cannot get it to work?

I have looked up the infomation on your TV I noticed that your TV has two HDMI input plugs. Since your SONY BRAVIA is hooked up to one port, you need to buy another HDMI cable for your PS3. On your tv remote you should have an option to switch from video 1 to video 2 so then you can switch from the SONY BRAVIA to the PS3 the problem is you will only hear your PS3 Sound from you TV. If you want to hear your PS3 sound from your SONY BRAVIA you need to buy an optical cable (also called TOSLINK) to connect from your PS3 to the SONY BRAVIA.
