Hook up the player with RGB (Red-Green-Blue or component) cables and try the picture. If everything works OK, then go to the menu and turn on the HDMI output and set the resolution (if needed).
Not every HDMI unit works with every HDMI TV. You may also have a bad HDMI cable. On a DVD recorder, you may have your HDMI cable connected to HDMI IN. You must use HDMI out.
Testimonial: "Great idea! I will try it. I did turn on progressive, but I think trying the regular video 1st to get menu is brilliant. Thanks!"
Some DVD s do not put out any signal on RGB until you switch to Progressive. If your remote has a progressive button, try it.
You will have to hook up with regular video first to get the menu if that does not work. Use the menu in regular video, turn on progressive and then switch to RGB. Its a pain, but it may work. Depends on the DVD player.

Everything appears to be connected correctly (with RGB). Although the Monster cables look good, I am suspecting a problem with them. Remote works, but no image of any kind appears on TV.
menu button on my dvd remote does not give options
