why not buy the correct power pack
matching the power needs of you puter.
each puter needs a watts level, do that or more never less.
only hp.com spec tells you what you need,
its in the service guide for you PC.

yes, power packs go bad, 3 ways, dead, weak, or intermittent.
all do in time, (max life is about 20years,less if overloaded, as i bet you did)
