Once it is deactivated, it will stay that way until you activate it again. If you don't plan on activating it, you can just leave it deactivated.

If you don't wish to use your facebook account for a period of time, you can deactivate it.
You can deactivate your facebook account by logging-in into your facebook.
Then, go to account settings. Scroll down, where you'll see 'Deactivate Account' and press deactivate.

Note: when your account is deactivate, neither your friends nor strangers can access your facebook account.

looks like you got a serious issue. As far as i understand from the error message you quoted here, your account has been deactivated somehow.



This is possible in two ways

1. The server which holds your account informations may got data corruption and so access to your account could not be established.
Possibility for this to occur is very very slim as all servers have tight backup options.


2. The other possibility is rather more creepy than previous one.
Just imagine, if someone got access to your account ( by username & Password) and intentionally requested facebook.com to discontinue this account. If someone requests to discontinue his account, the server will delete the account in no time.


This event has more chance to occur, as more and more people tries to hack in to others accounts and disturb its normal functionality.

3. Facebook deactivated your account because of illegal activities
If you performed illegal activities in facebook, then they will deactivate your account with or without prior notifications.

If somehow , your account is deleted, there are little ways to restore back. To My opinion, your chances are slim, though you may ask the www.facebook.com to retrieve your account back. Please submit a request to reactivate the account.

Log in into your facebook account.Go to your account settings. At the bootom of the page you will find DEACTIVATE ACCOUNT. Click on it and your account will be deleted.
