You may have bad filter capacitors in the power supply.
You need to open it up and inspect the inside, see some pictures here for guide: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Describe your (VL1916) 19" LCD

Did you try this monitor with another PC and already verify that the VGA cable is OK.
Common problem with Princeton monitors are due to bad DC filter capacitors in the power supply board, see example here:

Screen display only comes on for a second then goes black when pc input from vga port.

Try it on another PC, check all the pins on the VGA cable first.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed PRINCETON monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

My princeton VL2018W will flash the screen when first powered on but goes blank after. With repeated unpluging, the display used to stay, but no luck

floresa57, After lcd panel "flashes" is the lcd panel "black" or is it both "black" and "blank" when you perform the flashlight test that every LCD owner should know how to do and interpret the results? Do you have warranty? If no, then read more responses in my FIXYA profile for clues on what YOU will or what YOU won't do to fix your BLACK SCREEN monitor!!! Floresa57, the basic principles of design and operation of your Princeton VL2018W are same as all other brands of Fluorescent backlit LCD monitors!!! It can be fixed. READ, READ, before you do anything. Understand the reason WHY your monitor is now black and lifeless. Follow all the LINKS to other web sites so you will be informed and less likely to be overcharged on a repair job that should have cost less than $50. Good luck Floresa57. Rate this on FIXYA if it was of some use to you. 12fixlouie

Princeton VL1715-1 no display

From what you say there is probably not much you can do with it, the parts inside are SMD, to small
to work on. If you could still see txt on the screen when you shine your torch, it could be fixed by
replacing the back lighting PCB.

Hope this helps
Have a nice day.

PC flat screen monitor to DVD player hook-up

It appears that the monitor was designed to work with the display circuits and software driver on a Personal Computer. There is no circuitry in the display to handle the out put of DVD player. A smart TV has the circuitry. the display does not.
