no info generic answer - most units have a clean out or drain around the bottom of unit their is water in that location also their are cleaning products for washers
tip

Get rid of mildew safely, fast and cheap.wont stain cloths.

Your car got wet when the widow broke & now it stinks inside. My motor coach stinks because the roof was leaking water. The house stinks because the roof leaks.
HERE IS HOW TO FIX IT LIKE NEW FOR UNDER $12.00
first, fix where ever the leak is. NOw your couch, chair, rug, car seat & rugs, clothes, bed whatever, stinks because mold, mildew & fungus is growing all over.
depending on the size of the area buy 1 gallon,2 gallons or 3 gallons for large rooms, motor coaches, etc of WHITE VINEGAR which usually costs $2.25 to 3.00
per gallon. Spray lots on anything that is mildewed, moldy of has fungus growing.
the white vinegar will kill mold, mildew and fungus, within 30 minutes ,on contact.
The white vinegar will not stain clothes, carpets ,car seats or uphostered chairs however, i would keep it away from finely finished woods as it might possibly affect the fine finish. It probably wont, but test a small area that is not conspicious, just in case there is any reaction.
the white vinegar is often used in salid dressings , so aside from the room or car or your clothes smelling like salid dressing for a couple of days , no other side effects. the smell goes away, even from areas that you drenched in white vinegar, in a tops of 3 weeks. If you need the smell to go away faster, open all windows and direct a 20 inch box fan at the smelly area. anyway, the vinegar smells a lot better than the mold & mildew. It will save your cloths, your bed, your car, your interior rooms in your house, basements, garages, wood sheds, even wood lumber, that has been left outside too long, as long as the wood is not rotten.
The easiest way to apply the white vinegar is full strength and just pour the white vinegar right from the bottle into a 1 gallon pump up ortho sprayer, and spray your mildew room, rug, car seats, motor coach, basement, clothes or whatever. I has two rooms in my house get a good soaking in that big hurricane 2 years ago, sandy, i think it was called, and 3 days later the mildew smell was so bad i couldn't stay in either room. So I let everything in the room have it ,liberly, except for the tv set, which i kept dry.
The next day,i could only smell the mildew very faintly and the vinegar a lot,so i opened the windows and turned the 20 inch box fan on. I let the windows open 24 hours with the box fan on, after 24 hours, i could still smell a little vinegar,so i turned off the fan but left the windows open for another day. I was able to go in & watch tv again, but had some of the vinegar smell, not bad, but i kept looking for a salid to eat. 2 weeks later, the vinegar smell was completely gone but i noticed a faint mildew smell from the rug, so i gave the rug an even better soaking with vinegar. I had not applied enough vinegar to the rug to get down into the underpading where some mildew had survived and started to grow again. after the second application to the rug, It again took 3 weeks for the vinegar smell to disappear but the mildew smell was gone forever. The vinegar did not stain anything and i even applied *** to cloths that had gotten mildewy smelling in a leaky closet. 24 hours after i sprayed the clothes,i washed them and am wearing one of the shirts, restored to like new, as i type this. So,sometimes, you need a second application. sometimes you dont.one spray will do if you dont have rug underpading that needs to be really soaked good.
I have used the white vinegar on lumber left outside, sprayed it good and came back in 3 hours ,after it dried and started cutting the wood to fit on my mail box mounting. This stuff really works good.try it and i am sure ,you will like it.

Cheapest way to apply white vinegar is to empty your windex bottle into a jar, fill the windex bottle with white vinegar and have fun pumping the trigger about 400
times. works good for small areas if you dont have arthuritis in your hands.

I have the smeel of old grass coming from my washer, probably from my yard work jeans. How can I get rid of this smell? Is there a filter I can change?

All you can do is clean the rubber door boot inside and out and in all the folds with a strong bleach solution and then run an empty load with a a few cups of bleach in it, then always leave the door open after your finished the laundry, there is probably mold and mildew inside the tub between the spin basket and tub and you cant get to it. various products for mold and mildew may help

Hi, i would like to know why when i run the a/c ,the next day i get that steal smeal from the vents. i changed the cabin air filters ,but still the smell remains. please help. AD

This smell is caused by mold and mildew build up in the AC air passages and on the heater and the AC evaporator cores in the dash, u can spray LYSOL mold and mildew remover into the system at the air intake in front of the windshield with the blower turned to max, use about 1/4 can, then turn off the system and let it sit for an hour, then turn it back on with full heat, let that run to dry out the chemical, this will cure the smell short term until the mold and mildew grow back, it is a fix we did often in the shop, the wetter the climate u live in the worse the problem

Awful smell! I drain it every cycle, I use the washer cleaner, everything! I am so sick of my towels smelling awful.

Sounds like the little flexible apron just in front of your washer drum has mildewed. Take a look and see if it is holding water, and look for mold while your'e at it. Use a good bathroom mold and mildew remover to kill the mess and deodorize it.

Mold and mildew all around the seal.

The only solution here is for you to replace the door seal, and in future, do more high temp washes, as the prob is caused by doing too many low temp washes, ie: 40--50 degree temp washes, this causes build up of bacteria and the like.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

Mildew on rubber gasket around door.

This happens when you keep the door shut. Run an empty load with extra chlorine bleach to kill the mold spores. Keep the door open to prevent mold or mildew from growing again.

On a Designer Style top freezer fridge, what is the switch for Power Saving? It says, less power, or otherwise less moisture (red light on).

the power saver switch is used to activate a low wattage heater in the center rail between the freezer and refrig door to prevent moisture build in hot humid locations. if you live in a dry arid location then using it on pwer saver will save you some money on your power bill. if it sweats between the doors then the switch needs to be set to  reduce moisture to prevent mold and mildew build up on the seals and the water dripping on the floor. thanks Peyton

Odor in front loading duet washing machine

The following link explains how to minimize wash tub odor, and what generally can cause it:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r513372-front_loader_mildew_odor

I personally own one of these washers and have followed this same regiment since I purchased it new 9 years ago. I have never had a mildew or odor problem. Consumers that are not in the habit of using hot water very often will also run into odor and mildew problems, because detergent alone does not always kill bacteria. It is recommended that you run a "Clean Cycle" from time to time, to sanitize. Some newer models have a clean cycle added on the control panel.

NOTE: It is normal to have residual water in the drain lines and in the drain pump. If you need to clean, or check the drain pump, please follow the advice in this next link:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385845-checking_drain_pump_in_whirlpool_duet

Debris caught in the drain pump reservoir can often cause some unwanted odors.

If the rubber door bellow develops mildew and mold, use a non abrasive pad (the little green pads are considered non-abrasive) and scrub the rubber with bleach diluted with water (50/50 mix). This will often kill and remove unwanted mold and mildew. If the door bellow becomes embedded with mold or mildew, it may have to be replaced in order to get rid of it.

If you establish and maintain a diligent routine, these washers will not mold or smell. Often what seems to be a dream appliance that is supposed to make your life easier, may actually require more attention in order to maintain it properly.

If you have questions or comments, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
