My Toshiba Portege R200-S2031 LCD display has developed lines across top and RH side of screen. What kind of fix is there?

First, give the screen a good cleaning using a microfiber cloth. This may inadvertently remove the lines even though they are in the display.

If this doesn't work, you'll have to send the laptop back for repairs. Screens are not a component that can be replaced easily (such as RAM or a hard drive).

If your laptop is not under warranty, scope out some local computer shops that can replace the display for you. Make sure to ask them for a quote BEFORE they do work on your computer, otherwise they have the right to deny you your laptop, once they fix it, until you pay up (a possibly very nasty price).

Do you have Windows XP with servicepack 3 installed? If so then there is a known problem with the screen driver and XP sp3. Go bakc to SP2 and reinstall de display drivers this should clear the problem.

Pen not detected on especific zones of display

it's a digitizer (hardware part of LCD screen) problem, U can try to buy that part and replace it or just squeeze a little bit LCD screen on the edges around (don't squeeze the screen itself but just black plastic frame around the screen) - it helped my Toshiba for a while :)

Screen problems on Toshiba Portege R100

Right click on the computer's destop and view the display properties. Under the tab where you can alter resolution you can manage multiple monitors, It sounds like your laptop is setup to display through it's external VGA by default. Click on the two squares it shows and try to set your main screen as default.

Do you mean the resolution is very small and hard to read? if so.... then right click on the desk top click properties then click the settings tab. On the left hand side is a little slider bar that says less at one end and more at the other. Slide it to the less end a little then click apply. Repeat untill you get a resolution you like.

Replace Bluetooth Module

I couldn't find the exact procedure for your exact model, but I did find something close in your product Class. The following document is for a Portege R200. http://tinyurl.com/ybmzeu This should walk you through the basic dismantling of the laptop. IT will give general instructions about unscrewing the case, taking out components, removing the keyboard, and getting access to the part of the motherboard that holds the bluetooth module. You'll know what part to replace as it will look the exact same as the new part that you have. Once you have access to the part, unhook the old antenna and un-clip the old chip from the board. Then just reverse the procedure for the new chip.
