Hi, I've noticed with my Sony Bravia THEATER DAV-IS10 when playing some DVD's the voices don't sound right, almost like an echo but without the repeating. The speakers are set around the room on solid units and a window ledge. It is more noticeable on some DVD's more than others, so I can't tell weather it's a DVD or system problem. Would you possibly have any idea.
Regards Pete
It's probably a user setting problem.
You don't say if you're listening to native multichannel soundtracks as intended (AFD Direct) or if you're manipulating them with one of the simulated soundfields. Simulations only go so far toward reality and they always insert artifacts.
Take a look at the Troubleshooting section in the manual. Voice tracks are mostly center-channel related.
Testimonial: "Have set it back to AFD Direct though one of the DVD's still sounds the same. Maybe it's the DVD. Thank you for your help."

The TV and process the sound differently so the echo is a just a time smear. You shouldn't actually need to augment the HTS speakers with (ugh) TV speakers.
As far as comparative TV-sound loudness goes, if you drew it from the Cable Box to the audio system I'm sure it would be the same as your other audio. TV
