My kitchenAid stand mixer is leaking oil at the head ( rotating area) How do I fix this?

You can see that there are 5 screws holding the upper and lower gearcase together. They pinch the gasket number 26 together and prevent the oil and grease from leaking. Remove the chrome ring by prying gently around the ring. You will see the 5 screw heads. Tighten them and the leaking will stop.
If it still leaks then you may have to replace the fiber washers number 29 which will involve disassembling the lower gear case.
It has been brought to my attention that on some models removing the ring does not completely expose the screw heads. On my machine I was able to access the screw heads without removing anything else, however you may need to remove the rotating part to access the screws. Todo this you simply drive the pin from the drive shaft and remove the planetary housing (#33) to gain complete access to the screw heads.
