My Samsung LCD TV slowly flahses colours, each about 2-4 seconds

My Samsung LCD TV suddenly stopped working today. I can hear the sound clearly, but the monitor just slowly transitions through colours: red, blue, green, etc. Each colour flashes on the screen for about 2 sec, then goes to the next colour. It is very strange. Any ideas?

If it is not on service mode, the EPROM chip may need replacing. Try the hard reset again. Did it look like it went through the reset last time? One other idea maybe one of the harnesses to the screen has come loose.

I can't see if it's doing anything when trying a hardware reset. It only does the color changing thing once it turns on. I didn't notice any loose harnesses; but I'll look again.

as far as advanced settings are concerned, set the contrast backlight and brightness so you can see the best blacks without it looking too milky, the best whites so you can discern the whites and they aren't clipped, then look at colour balance if it looks wrong when you turn the colour off.

Samsung LCD HD TV Model # LN-S4041D > 4 years old - working fine until today - While watching TV, I heard 2 loud beeps and the TV image was lost - initially frozen pixels and some moments later .......

Th clicking is from the power relay. You will have to open it up, the first place to look will be the power supply module, look to see if it has any bad caps with leaking/bulging tops first, caps can look OK but can be bad due to high ESR.

If you are DIY'er go to Display in Control Panel and reset to default, this might work. If not, try a RESTORE POINT roughly before condition started.
