Do it the easy way.
In the ASUS turn off dhcp server.
Change its ip to the same range but different ip to the netcomm and outside the dhcp range. ie. if the netcomm is 192.168.1.1 and hands out addresses from 2-100 make the Asus 192.168.1.254 which is the top address. (I have no idea what netcomm you have so you will have to figure this out. ) If you want more detail tell us exactly what IP addresses the modem and the Asus are using.

Last step. Plug the modem into a LAN port of the ASUS, not wan. It will then work fine as wireless access point.

I purchased an Asus EeePad Tablet. How can I connect to the Internet and google? The tablet has WiFi.

You need to connect to your wireless router that is connected to the Internet via a cable or DSL modem OR to a Internet cafe WiFi hot spot at a location such as McDonalds, Star Bucks.

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

Wireless Connection with a Laptop

Hi, I presume you have internet installed already.
Is it dsl connection you have or via a digital set top tv box, such as SKY or Virgin , I don't know which country you are in, but you will have to find a provider first.

All you need is wireless router and the first connections are :-
1/ Phone line to modem
2/ Modem to router
3/ Router to laptop ( This is a physical, temporary connection, while the wireless part is setup.
4/ Which ever router you buy, follow the instructions carefully

If you need more help, please ask.

Asus Wifi-b Nework Adapter

Hi Tony872,

Do you have a wireless router hooked up to your broadband modem?

If you do not, you will need to purchase a wireless router to hook up to your broadband modem if you want to have wi-fi in your home.

Here is a link that will provide you with some wireless routers that are available.

Exactly ASUS WL-500g, no internet connection

My advice and personal experiences with both wired and wireless connectivity, is if you wish to share files and internet connection, purchase a combined Modem/Router and not a seperate router to work along side your original modem. Your modem will send your router an ip address in turn your pc is sent one from your router and can get complicated; keep it simple! These are much easier to set up and control as one unit and if there are ever any connection problems you will know it's either a setting or a modem/router problem and not have to wonder ; is it the modem?; Router? settings? etc. As there are frequent loss of connections both internet and LAN it makes sense have one peice of equipment to maintain.
