I have a Samsung lnt466if lcd and it works intermittently. When i turn it on there's sound but no picture. Sometimes it comes on like there's no problem others the picture comes on for a second then goes away, when that happens i can turn it off and on repetedly and eventually it will work. When no picture comes on at all it is ususally days before it works again. I opened it up and replaced three blown caps, but that didn't solve the problem. I've already spent $1000 on getting it fixed at a tv repair shop which obviously didn't work. Any ideas? I'm more than capable of replacing parts myself.

You need to check the back light is still on when the screen is blank (check through the back).
If the back light is on, need to change the Powwer Board.
but,
no back light, need to change the inverter.

You need to do some more diagnosing of the problem. If you get sound and change channels take a bright flashlight and place it again the screen. Look for an image around the edge of the flashlight.
If you see an image that means the LCD controller board (TCON) is probably good.
The problem is probably one of three causes;
1) Inverter board is bad
2) CCFT (cold cathode fluorescent light) are bad.
3) Power to the inverter board is bad. You can also check the connectors.

hey Adam i have a samsung that has been doing that.it would come on then after a few minutes the picture would go ou but the sound still worked.i found that one of the connectors that plugs into the LCD board had a broken solder joint were it connects to the back lighting .just unplug your lcd connections if its bad you'll know it because it will come out.

check if the back lamps are still on when you lose image, all you have to do is get close to the screen and make is totally black and if is not that means you have a back light working, but if the back light is gone you may have a defective panel.
talked to samsung TA about the same problem I had and the recommend to replace the power supply first to confirm a defective panel because a panel is quite expensive

Had this exact problem diagnosed by a local repair shop as a bad LCD panel. According to the technician there's a loose ribbon cable on the panel and it would cost as much to replace/repair as a new TV.
