Display screen flashes "CHK" repeatedly

When installing new batteries the display screen reads, "CHK". "CHK" continues to flash on the display screen.I've tried leaving the batteries out for a few hours but that doesn't fix it. I've tried bagging on it, but that doesn't fix it. I've tried holding the stop and display buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds but that doesn't fix it. I've tried switching the hold switch on and off but that doesn't fix it. Any solution?

Hello.

From FixYa Support: The "ERR" message reportedly means a memory error.

Please NOTE: This solution will wipe out the memory.

Press the STOP and DISP/MENU buttons at the same time for about 2 seconds, and then the display should show "FOR". It will supposedly erase the whole memory, but will at least make the device usable again.

Hope this helps.

Ooops, forgot to add (I know you already tried this procedure): Leave the recorder plugged in for several minutes during the process. Then it should revert from CHK to PC. Eventually, it should fix itself.

My SB 700 shows temperature after few shuts and when it's twisted

From the SB 700 manual page b8:

v Notes on continuous fl ash photography • To prevent the SB-700 from overheating, allow it to cool down for at least 10 minutes after 15 times of continuous firing. • When continuous flash firing is repeated in quick succession, the internal safety function adjusts the recycling time by up to 15 seconds. If flash firing continues, the thermal cut-out indicator appears on the LCD and all operations are suspended. (0E-31) Allow it to cool down for several minutes to disable this function. • The conditions under which the internal safety function is activated differ depending on the temperature and the SB-700 flash output level. Operation B B-8 Slide the battery chamber cover open while pressing the battery chamber cover lock release. Insert the batteries following the [+] and [-] marks. Close the battery chamber cover. STEP 1 Inserting the batteries Operation B B-9 1.5 V alkaline AA battery 1.5 V lithium AA battery Rechargeable 1.2 V NiMH AA battery Suitable batteries When replacing batteries, use four fresh AA-type batteries of the same brand from any of the following types: • For minimum recycling time and number of flashes for each battery type, refer to "Specifications." (0H-27) • Alkaline battery performance may vary greatly depending on the manufacturer. • 1.5 V carbon-zinc AA batteries are not recommended. v Additional precautions regarding batteries • Read and follow battery warnings and cautions (0A-19 - A-22). • Be sure to read and follow the warnings for the battery on the section, "Notes on Batteries" (0H-9), before using the battery. • The recycling time can be longer when lithium AA batteries are used because they incorporate a function that suppresses the output current when heat is generated in the batteries.

My display keeps shutting off five minutes after starting to watch TV- the sound continues, but the screen is black and the red warning light flashes

Hi,

Please check the sequence in which your warning light flashes.

I will tell you what might be the problem according to the fashing of warning light,
If,

Flashing repeatedly --- Improper voltage supply
Flashing once --- Malfunctioning of fan
Flashing twice ---excessive temperature
Flashing 3 time or more--other problem

When flashing occurs please remove the power cord from receptacle and inform your dealer about the flashing sequence.

Thanx

Remote control won't work. Have put in new batteries.

We have to CHK to see if the remote is functioning, Do u have a camera phone, if so look to see if the Infra red beam is flashing when you press the button, through the camera you should see a light if the remote is working. If not CHK infra red LED if read open change it. IF light flashes continuously change transistor. If the LED dont light but the LED is good CHK the XTAL.... Another way to check beam is a little transistor radio with the am band press remote while tuning until you hear a beeping sound. If the remote is working the sensor on the player itself is bad and need to be replace.......

Flash pops up but does not flash

Turning the Flash Off and On: 1. With the camera in any user set, repeatedly press the Flash/ISO button on the lens barrel until the flash cancel icon (a lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it) is displayed on the control panel and screen. 2. When finished, to return to the default setting, press the Flash/ISO button until AUTO and the lightning bolt icon are displayed on the control panel and no flash icon is displayed on the screen. If it still doesnt help: 1. Check that batteries are fresh. 2. Check that camera hasn't been set for no-flash mode. 3. Give the flash time to charge before pressing shutter.
