Miele Novotronic T562C: Do I put the washing powder into the small opening/hole top left in the removable part? It looks almost too small! And I can't see how it gets out of there into the machine during a wash cycle. If not there, where??

The motherboard governs the release of the door so I'm afraid you need to contact plumber. you could try unplugging it and seeing if it will release after few minutes

after leavening the machine off for at least 1/2 an hour and try again if not there is a problem with the door lock it may be faulty, unplug the machine take the top off and push the drum to the rear and using a small screwdriver remove the door lock and replace from the manufactures website eric

There should be a plastic tool on the inside of the detergent drawer. It's a flat spatular type tool (mine is bright yellow). Then there is a spot on the little door where the tool fits in and you can use it to gently lever the door open.

Turn the machine off and unplug it! There are 3 10mm bolts around the door that need to be removed, the soap dispensing drawer needs to be taken out and you have 3 torx20 screws (one on the left and 2 on the right) that have to be removed. The bottom left corner of the machine there is a small door that you open, remove the hose that's clipped inside it, there is a small tab on the lower left, release the tab, pull open the door. To take out the seal you have to loosen the 8mm bolt band clamp, and pull the seal off. Fit the new seal on until you hear it pop. and reverse the order.

if your washing machine drains into a spigot in the u bend under your sink you will probably find a blockage here. you need to remove the drain hose and have a look in the hole.

if not when you remove the fluff filter have a look in the hole and make sure the drain pump turns freely. you can also run a drain spin cycle with the fluff filter removed and make sure the drain pump is working.

More than likely the problem is actually the inlet valve which only partly allows water to flow into the unit. you would need to remove the lid and replace the inlet valve which is on the left hand back corner of the unit. Valves are available from Miele

There is a fluff filter in the bottom left hand corner behind the flap. have a small tray, like a baking tray underneath it and open the flap with a flat lever or the miele yellow key. Turn the tap about 1/4 of a turn and collect about a litre of water from the unit. when it has stopped draining unscrew the tap all the way out and clean the fluff filter which is the tap in your hand. also have a look in the hole and you will see the drain pump. make sure this is free of any foreign particles and then re-screw the tap back making sure it is tight.
To avoid the smell in the unit run the machine on a few 95c washes. you can use a cleaner or just white vinegar as a cleaning agent. after every wash keep the door open for about 30 mins to let it dry out as shutting the door is then a perfect enviroment for bacteria to develop and the smell.

Also check the door seal for any foreign particles every wash.

The I is the pre-wash and the III is the main wash where you put the soap powder. the # star looking symbol is the fabric conditioner.

I'm not sure if you have done this, but open the pump door (the little panel at the bottom left - it opens from the top hinged at the bottom) and slowly drain the machine by unscrewing the large knob inside - do it gently and in small stages or you'll flood the room.
Once you've done that you should be able to open the door by pulling on the orange tab that is also behind the pump door.

I'd bet the holes are the same size as the holes in the dryer tumbler. the only thing I can think of is that your dryer isn't tumbling and the heat that is pushed through the holes is burning your clothes.
