Please check the roof first.
Then,
You have a part of the dryer has broken and is slapping the inside of the machine.
Please do not use the dryer again until it is repaired.
I say this because of the danger of fire, from the gas flames that dry the clothes.
God bless your efforts.
Check for a possible cracked weld in the seam of the stainless steel drum. Noise most likely is the crack passing over the front or rear rollers each revolution.
A loose belt will allow the drum to slip when clothes hit the paddles in the drum. It sometimes sounds like a pair of tennis shoes are in the dryer when it slips and is usually rythymic.
These machines also use drum rollers that can make a racket when they go bad.
Sound like either your belt or your bearings. Either way, I wouldn't run it anymore until I got a professional appliance repair guy out to check it. We wouldn't want your house to burn down. Very dangerous!! I would also unplug it until then as well. Good luck and stay safe!
The belt probably broke, and coincidentally happened while drying the shoes. The belt is easy to replace. Open the back and you'll probably see the belt laying on the bottom
HI sounds to me like your drum support is worn, it would make a thumping sound. You have 2 you should replace them both.
