NB205 is stuck in hibernation mode. Tried taking out battery, pressing power button for 10 seconds, unplugging, hooking it up to external monitor, etc. If I can just get it to turn on 1 more time so I can...

Remove the battery and disconnect the power unit. Remove the hard drive and RAM.
Power the netbook up. It should complain that the RAM is too low and the drive is missing.
Power it down and replace the drive and RAM.
That will get it going again.
If it doesn't, you have a mother board fault and need specilised help.

Cracked lcd screen. Found a lcd replacement without the inverter. What does an inverter do? do I really need it? Can't i just take the one on the previous lcd screen and apply it to the new lcd? and just...

The inverter is the source of all the "brightness" of the LCD display. So, unless you use your laptop in a totally-dark room, you need an inverter.

I would try your current inverter, to see if it works, before going out and trying to find/purchase an inverter.

Dvd is grainy picture

You can use your old on, but I am guessing it doesn't have progressive scan. If it does, make sure to hook it to your TV using a component cable.( RED GREEN BLUE ) Then you will have to hook the audio up seperately with a standard red and white RCA cable. Do nt try to use a standard RCA video cable in the place of a componenet cable. Once you have the compnent (RGB) cable and RCA (RW) cable hooked to the TV, check the DVD menu and make sure it is set to Progressive Scan. If you want the best picture for your HDTV. I highly reccomend a blu-ray disc player. That is the highest quality. There are some prety good upconverting DVD players out there. They take the 480p signal and upconvert them to 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. These have HDMI outputs and connect quickly and easily to the TV you have. Most of them can be purchased for less than 100 bucks. But this would be your second best option. Before you shell out 400 bucks on a blu-ray player, go to a rental company and rent a blu-ray player. Once you see the quality of blu-ray, I think you will run out and buy one!

Only getting sound but no picture!

Well, i had a look at the back of that Toshiba TV - make sure that the red, white, and yellow cables are hooked into the Video-1 slot of the Toshiba and that the Toshiba channel is changed to Video 1.
Then check your nameless DVD player and make sure the red, white, and yello cables are all hooked to OUTPUT slots that are in the same column or row - if I had you DVD manufacturer and model #, I could suggest some additional steps to check. Also, make sure your dvd player is in dvd playback mode.

Toshiba 42HP66, HDMI problems

Your Cable box might need to be reprogrammed. Call the cable company and they will drive you thru the steps to program it, this way you will get the channels. This process might take you 30-45 minutes.
