Sounds like the moisture sensor has gone away. Not sure where it is located on this model, though.

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.

This link, http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/SmartSearch.aspx, provides exploded view imagery, belt routing diagrams, parts imagery and function, parts ordering and shipping information, error code details, just about anything you need to get your appliance up and running again. Just follow the links to navigate through the site.

You will need to enter the model number stamped on the manufacturers product information data tag, located on the unit, and not in the User’s Manual. to access your product information.

Here are some common solutions to help resolve the issue with your appliance:

If your dryer seems to run forever, it could be because of a clogged vent or internal ductwork. Your dryer may have an automatic cycle that turns off the dryer when the clothes are dry. It does this with a special thermostat or moisture-sensing system.

Normally, this is what happens during an automatic cycle:

  • The thermostat tells the dryer to heat until the interior of the dryer reaches a pre-set temperature--say 135 degrees.

  • When the dryer reaches the pre-set temperature, the thermostat tells the timer to begin advancing. (If there's a moisture sensor, the timer advances only if the moisture content of the clothing is low enough.)

  • The timer advances until the interior cools, then the thermostat tells the timer to stop advancing, and tells the dryer to start heating again.

This cycle continues until the clothes are dry. But…if the vent is clogged, the dryer may never reach the proper operating temperature, so it doesn't send the signal to the timer and the dryer continues to run indefinitely, even if the clothes are completely dry. To fix the problem, clean the vent and/or internal ductwork.

SOURCE: location of filter on maytag performa heavy duty washing machine

I'm sorry Hilda, most washers that have been put out over the last several years don't have a filter per se. When the wash cycle agitates and lint is released from the clothes, the outside of the basket (the area where you put your clothes) is very sharp where the holes are. Lint collects on these holes as the linty water flows through them. When the rinse and spin cycles dis-lodges it and send it down the drain.

There are some availibkle aftermarket kits availible at some appliance parts stores. They are generics and not produced by the manufactues, but if you wanted a lint catcher n a washer, it would be an option.

I hope this helps with you questions. If you have any other quiestions or concerns, please feel free to write me back.

Our Maytag Centennial Electric dryer is not cycling in auto dry mode but will in timer mode. Any thoughts?

There is a sensor that the clothes have to touch when the drum spins. This sensor measures how wet the clothes are. If you don't have enough of a load in the dryer then the sensor wont detect the dryness. Or it could be a bad sensor or connection or main board.

Maytag electric dryer (PYE2300AYW) does not stop on auto cycle.

Either the control board or the humidity sensor is bad.

My whirlpool duet dryer is only 4 years old and it does not dry the clothes completely, even when it is on Heavy Duty. Only way it dries the clothes is if I run it through 2 cycles.

Check to see that the lint filter and exhaust duct are clear all the way to the outlet. If the moist hot air is not being exhausted the clothes will not dry. If the vent path is clear and you are using auto-dry the sensor may be at fault.

Maytag Performa Electric Dryer Won't Start

check the blower wheel, sounds to me like it is loose on the blower motor, common on these dryers. One sure sign would be a warped filter and a rusted top. The blower aint putting out enough and the dryer is over heating .

Mytag Dryer ModelLdg4000Aw

I have a Maytag Atlantis Gas Dryer that will turn on, rotate, but will not get hot and dry the clothes. A load of clothes in the afternoon, didn’t dry, tried again but didn’t dry – went to bed after putting on auto dry - next morning the dryer was still rotating and didn’t turn off. No hot air – only cold air.
