Is there a bearing race that should be lubricated in the neptune front load washer? My neptune washer (~12 years old) has recently started to make a wirring sound increasing volume and pitch as the drum speed increases in the spin cycle.

Could be the bearings . But it could also be the springs that center and hold tub in place. They weaken over time and it is not uncommon for a tub to be scraping because one of the springs is shot. When you replace one, you replace all at same time and eat your wheaties because they are hard to replace.
It is a complete tear down to replace the main tub bearing. The bearing comes pressed in the rear shell, oversized shipping on part. If the inner basket spindle is froze or badly pitted or groved it is another expensive part, The repair is about two or three hours depending on how easy things come apart and how much working room there is if it is done in your house. So yes it is expensive to repair, and not a easy decision, good luck
if its a neptune front load washer you need new tub lip seal and bearings for the drum as the seal is leaking water into the bearings that hold the inner drum,it will only get worse, you need to remove the inner drumto replace the seals and bearing it takes from 2 to 6 hours depending how hard the old bearings come out of the race
im sorry, load spin cycle may be a bad spin bearing.remove lower back panel.look behind large black pully.if see rust ,water.metal fragments.thats it.cost a bunch to repair.ive done them 4 400 to 500$.God bless you ,tom

No, I'll tell you before forking out $ $ for some bad news. The noise is your bearing. You have to replace the outer tub .Its not going to be repaired any other way.The idiots who designed this washer made this a non servicable bearing. The labor is high not to mention the outer tub is also.REPLACE THE OUTER TUB.
Why?Do you understand that the bearings are locked into the outer tub and you have to replace that, the outer tub.Very expensive repair that will most likely be almost half the price you had paid for the machine new.My advise is DONT FIX this if you have a bearing problem ,because I honestly believe in letting the customer know the truth.Sorry, but a 15 year old re- conditioned Maytag will out last any Neptune ever made.
