Behringer XENYX 1622FX, won't power on. Phantom power works(?)

I have a Behringer Xenyx 1622 FX mixer. The fuse blew, and now that I've replaced it (with the manufacturers recommended fuse), it does not power on when you flip the main power switch. The only instance of power going into the mixer is the +48v red LED, on the right side of the mixer, halfway up. The LED turns on when the phantom power switch is on, but not when the main power switch is on.

After reviewing the schematic, I don't understand how the Phantom power can REMAIN on with the power switch off... this CANNOT occur except for what energy is left in the 48 volt supply filter cap... This might last for minutes after the fuse went... UNLESS you have devices connected which are backfeeding the 48 volts. (which would be a disaster)

The 48 volts, +/- 12 volts and +/- 15 volts and the +5 volts ALL come from the SAME switching power supply. I suspect one of the filter caps went or the primary switching regulator a TDP245Y chip.

You should ONLY work on the line side of this using an ISOLATION transformer since the line side has lethal voltages.

To do testing, one replaces the fuse and puts a 60 Watt light bulb in series with the hot side of the inout line. The lamp "acts" as a resetable fuse and limits the current for testing. When all is well again, the lamp will remain out with the power flowing through it.

The D1 diode bridge and C7 input rectifier and filter are first things to check. You can do those with an ohmmeter.

I will caution you to ALWAYS power any and all equipment from the SAME power source. Plugging in devices from across the room will set up ground loops and any ground fault will fry equipment.

Additional, if the fuse did not blow again, then the switcher must be running.

Verify the 4 voltages +12 and +/-15 and +5 volts.

One or more of those are probably bad. I would suspect the +5 volts.

I have seen arc over damage in Behringer mixers between the +15 to the -15 before. Usually this is NOT enough to take out the fuse...

    Check C6, C9, C12, and C16.

Correction from first solution: There is NO -12 supply

These suppies all use 303 fast recovery diodes so if you find blown cap check D4, D5,D6, and D8 respectively for the above caps.

Note: the feedback to regulate comes from C12 (+15 unreg) that feeds back to the main switcher via an opto-coupler.

There was a 3amp in the normal plug which stated 5amp but worked fine for ages,I replaced it with another 3amp seeing I didn't have a 5 amp but no power, have you any ideas what to do because I need this working quick and can't afford another one,it's a behringer xenyx 1222fx mixer. Any help would be amazing Thanks Mike

Looking for a manual

Here:

The 2442 is just an extended version of the 1622FX. The manual covers the whole series.

Behringer XENYX 1620FX, won't power on. Phantom power works(?)

Here is a schematic close to your unit:

http://elektrotanya.com/behringer_xenyx_1622fx.pdf/download.html

Scroll down to "get manual" and click to download. Ignore other download links.

The phantom power is a separate rectifier and regulator. See page 11 of the download service manual for the power supply. Be careful when working on line operated switching supplies. I suspect you will find one of the other supplies is dead. If the phantom is OK, then the switcher is working and one of the rectifier/filter/regulators is bad. Check if an electrolytic cap is shorted.

Can I use a footswitch for the reverb, to allow me to switch it off when talking ON MY Behringer Xenyx 1202 FX

Sorry, the Xenyx1202FX does not have a footswitch input. I would suggest if this function is needed to use an external FX unit which has a footswitch input.

Behringer xenyx 2442fx : I need to know the correct voltages out of power-supply. Mixer has been seen by a previous tech and now FX area and mixer level leds are off (I've been a user of this mixer...

You should find pwer supply voltages of +/- 15 volts going to most of the op-amps.
You should find 48 volts for the phantom power source.
You should find 5 volts for the FX DSP or any other logic circuits.
You should find a +12 volt.

Here is a manual close to your unit (yours is an expansion of it):

I have an Behringer Xenyx 1222FX that won't power on but when switching on the phantom power light does illuminate. Checked all fuses and those are fine

The phantom power light wouldn't illuminate unless the unit was powered on. Possibly the main power indicator light is burned out.

My Behringer XENYX 2442FX Mixer does not power up, the only light that comes on is the phantom power light. I opened it up and noticed that the switching power supply has multiple voltage outputs. We...

You should find +/-15 volts and +5 volts as well as the phantom power... but that light can come on at much lower than desired voltage.

Note that the regulators are current limited so a short on the mixer board can kill one of the voltages.... but you are not getting any input from teh switching portion of the regulator so the switching part of the supply is apparently dead. To replace the supply you would have to call Behringer at 1-425-672-0816 to get the part number and an incident number and then call FullCompass which is their part distributor now.

When working on a switching power supply, use an isolation transformer for safety and use a 60 watt lamp in series with the power cord to limit current during testing.

The circuitry will be SIMILAR to the power supply found on page 9 of schematic you can download at:

Behringer Xenyx 1622FX. Power supply has failed, no +5V rail, other rails are OK, appers to be no input to the regulator. Could do with a circuit diagram. I believe the PSU is used in other mixers.

Suspect a broken circuit trace or broken solder. If they use a 7805 three terminal regulator, check the solder around those pins...
Berhinger does NOT release schematics except to their service facilities... I know... I have tried... I repaair a lot of their stuff and have to trace out the circuits.

Power supply circuits are rather easy except for the switching regulators if they have failed totally.

If only the +5 is dead, you should be only a filter cap and a diode or two away from the problem... Transformer leads and electrolytic leads with their weight are favorite to pull out of solder... On Behringer, often the traces are narrow and can have a crack in them.
