Here is a solution : On desktop go to :: my computer----mouse right click----properties----system----device management. There you can find symbols for all devices that are already installed on your system . Scroll down until you find the definition of your audio device software , for example , if your audio driver software is a realtek then right mouse click on it , then you'll find disable , just disable it and then uninstall the audio driver software ! After that you should restart your system . When system started again , install the software again , and restart the system once again . Now you should hear the operating system starting tone .. If you didn't hear the tone , then go to device management again and enable the audio device once again . good luck . rate if useful please

Where are you checking? In the Device Manager?
Go there and disable the sound device and then reboot and enable it again. (If you get there and see a device disabled, just enable it and check again to see if you have sound).
Try this and report back if you still have problems.

Uninstall the driver & again install it out.If still it doesn't work then check for the type of motherboard,& audio chipset.Down load the driver from internet & install it out.It must work,if driver problem persist. If at all hardware problem then you have to use the usb soundcard for audio to enable in laptop. It also works fine.
try to look on the control panel of your computer and find the sound effect manage or sound and audio devices. if still doesn't work then try to reinstall again your audio driver from your motherboard driver cd. it will solve the problem.
Did you plug the scanner in before installing the software? Common mistake... Disconnect the scanner, uninstall the software completely, re-boot, open up the Device Manager, Click View-->Show Hidden devices--> Look for any scanner related drivers that are still installed for the scanner (they will moste likely be grayed out since it is unplugged) and uninstall them (Right click-->Uninstall). Re-boot again, install the software, wait for the software install to prompt you to plug in the device. Follow the quick start guide if it came with one. Check the manufacturers web site for updated drivers, software for you model.
