Norelco 835rx unused for 10 yrs, worked 1st time, then not.

I have a Norelco 835rx which I have not used it in 10 years (it worked then) I just cut my beard last night so got it out to shave the stubble. Plugged the shaver into a cord I think is it's, which says 125v 10A, and it worked last night, left it plugged in to charge, this morning it was warm but only turned slowly. I used it a little, then unplugged it to cool. 2 hours later it does not work at all, plugged in or not.

The battery pack is, likely bad and will need replaced. Batteries don't hold up well sitting around for 10 years. The stress of charging may have finished off the batteries completely. When the batteries short out internally, the shaver wont run from the cord either. Before ordering batteries you'll want to make sure the old ones have not corroded badly and ruined the circuit board. To check it out, remove the four screws on the back and remove the back cover. Lift out the circuit board and inspect it to make sure there are no burns.

If everything looks to be in good shape, installing a new battery pack will probably be all you need to do. You will fin the correct battery pack at shaveroulet.com. See link below

I need a new battery installed in my Norelco 7845 XL, It's at least 10 yrs old, & has new blades in the head. Where do I send it, & how much.??

Hi jimkaem,

You can find valuable resources for the 7845XL including manuals and FAQ's:

http://ow.ly/5XMkD

The batteries for this shaver are built-in. Do not try to replace the batteries yourself.

If you have problems with the built-in batteries, take the appliance to your local service center to have them checked and/or replaced by a professional.

It does nto cut like it use to. The blade is only 6 months old Whats the best way to clean it. It seem to be cutting with only 1 of the triple head

The Arcitec shavers have a poor design which makes it difficult to clean well. The blades can not be removed from their combs, therefore, the only way to clean this is by running them in a cleaning solution. Norelco makes a shaver cleaned that can be used for this. It is available from shaveroutlet.com at the link below. Rubbing alcohol can also be used.

http://shaveroutlet.com/shaver-accessories/norelco-hq200-smart-touch-jet-clean-solution-p-258.html

Simply fill a container about 1 inch deep with the cleaner and then stick the shaver head down into the liquid with it running. Run for several seconds, remove and repeat several times.

Note that if your shaver is badly clogged, this still may not work that well due to the poor design of the shaver heads. If you require replacement, you will also find them at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

How do I change the Battery in My Norelco T3000 Beard Trimer

Remove Phillips head screw at bottom of trimmer. Separate body in two being careful to notice how on/off switch is assembled. Unsolder the ni-cad battery from circuit board. Install new ni-cad battery of the same physical size that has solder tabs on it and solder it to the circuit board. I used a ni-hi (nickle metel hydride) instead of ni-cad which had different charging requirements so I limit charge time to no more than 16 hours for a discharged battery. It had been working fine for over a year. Don't forget to apply a few drops of light oil to the cutting blades to extend cutting life. Replacement blades are about $30.00

Doesn't hold a charge or cut very well anymore

Heads for your model are no longer available. Shaver will not hold a charge because batteries need replaced. Batteries can be replaced but soldering is required. If you have cleaned it well and it does not cut, I suggest getting a new shaver.
