The internal speaker is only for beeps. These beeps are constant or short and only happen when the computer is trying to tell you how its about to die lol.

Buy some speakers. I would highly recommend a 2.1 system from logitech.

Nope, if you have a speaker connected to the BACK of your dell optiplex it will 'take over' the internal speaker.

  • disconnect all audio cables and see how ya go ;)

My dell optiplex gx520 sounds like it continues to startup for 20+ minutes. Windows load but I cannot do anything.

possibly your windows has become corrupted..try reinstalling it..if your dell came with pre-installed software, then you could use the OS reinstallation cd..note that you may loose all your data since reinstallation will include formating and deleting all your previous data

Dell OptiPlex?? GX520 GX620 Internal Speaker code? Small speaker/amp, approx. 1 1/8 " dia. by 3/4" deep. Red, Blk, Grn, & Wht wires out of speakere housing. Built in amp on housing. Robert [email protected]

My experience has been for this configuration, is that the red wire is your +5 volts, the green is right, the white is left, and the black is the ground for the supply and both speaker grounds. Hope this helps...accordianman
