Sounds like you can't resolve the host name of the iPrism. There is a setting in the System Preferences in Mac OS. Under Network you can see the network connections if you have rights to change the settings click on your connection and click Advanced. On the DNS tab there is "Search Domains." Enter the domain of your Active Directory realm (Windows Domain, usually something like domain.local). If you do not have this your IT department can give it to you.

Am trying to set up a Windows 2003 server to serve web pages over the Internet. Have got a DSL line from Embarq. They installed a EQ-660R interface which is really build by Zyxel. I can reach the Internet...

In order to access your default web page remotely, port 80 "INBOUND" must be open to the internet.

To access your web server, two things need to happen.
The first is you or someone else must initiate a http request on port 80 using the public IP Address of your DSL connection.
Second, your router must forward that request to your servers internal ip address.

Ex. Lets say your public ip address is 24.39.45.10. In a browser window from a remote location, you enter the URL http ://24.39.45.10 The request will be sent to your router on port 80.

Your web server will not have the ip address 24.39.45.10 because it's on the private network side of your router. So, lets say the private ip address of you server is 192.168.1.100

You need to configure your router to take the http request coming from the internet on port 80 to ip address 24.39.45.10 and forward that request to 192.168.1.100. This is known as port forwarding.

You also need to configure the host header name of your "web page" so it knows it needs to display the web page.

Since we're just using ip addresses in this example and not an actual FQDN (fully qualified domain name), you would make a host header entry for the web page of 24.39.45.10.

To do this open IIS.
Navigate to the web site in question and right click on it then select properties.
On the website tab, ensure the port number is set to 80 and choose the appropriate internal ip address if you have more than one network adapter in the server.
Next click on the advanced tab and look for the heading Multiple identities for this site. This is where you enter the ip address 24.39.45.10.

If you have a fully qualified domain name, you would enter the domain name instead of the ip address as specified in this example.

Host header names are the key to running multiple websites from one physical server as long as it has the necessary horsepower to do so.

Hope this helps and isn't confising. If you're confused in any way, don't hesitate to ask for clarification.

DNS Name resolution Between private & Public network.

You do not need to configure ISP's PTR records. Instead define their DNS addresses as forwarders in the properties of DNS server under forwarders tab and flush DNS cache.

Description: same as above
INCOMING MAIL SERVER
User Name: [email protected] (user specific) Must include the @domain
password: password
OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
Host name: smtp.domain.com

At message that SSL failed select YES to continue without using SSL should get message twice (incoming & outgoing server tests)

Made no changes to Authentication (default-password) or Server port (default-25)

Came up and began to load mail instantly.Sent test mail and all is good.

This error occurs when the BIOS did not assign an IRQ to the device. This is most likely to happen on a system that is not PCI compliantand/or is not capable of Bus Mastering. In such a situation a suggested ISA Ethernet Card would be the best sol

Error message "No domain server is available to authenticate user password"

There are any number of reasons this can happen. Please check for the following:
Verify ALL connections to the network are valid (cables, connectors, ports, etc.)
If there is no NT Domain server on the network:
1. Right-click Network Neighborhood, then select Properties from the list.
2. Double click Client for Microsoft Networks.
3. In the new window that appears, uncheck Logon to NT Domain. Click OK on all open windows, and restart the computer when prompted.
If there is an NT Domain server on the network check to make sure that:
1. An IP address has been specified.
2. The computer has been configured for DHCP.
If DHCP is configured and the error message continues to come up, ensure that the DHCP service is running correctly. Contact Microsoft, or your network administrator for assistance with this.

Why can't I access my ISP's resources, such as their mail and news servers on my RO318?

If the servers have simple names like 'mail' or 'news', the problem may be that the ISP's domain suffix is not being added to these names before DNS lookup. Add your ISP's domain suffix as Domain Name in the RO318's System menu. In addition, the ISP may be looking for a particular host name for your account, in which case you should enter the host name as the System Name in the RO318's System menu. Example: Consider the following account with the ISP "earthlink.net". 1. Host Name: C-223344-A 2. Domain Name: www.earthlink.net Mail Server mail Although the ISP lists the name of their mail server as 'mail', the fully expanded name is actually: mail.earthlink.net If the ISP automatically provides the domain suffix to your router, the router will append the domain suffix to DNS requests. If not, you can try one of these methods: 1. In each application (such as mail client or news reader), list the fully expanded server name, 2. Manually configure DNS parameters in the network settings of each of your PCs, and enter the domain suffix manually.
