Kenmore 110.69912990 Our dryer just died today. :( When we push the start button nothing happens. We checked the fuses and when I opened the front panel it's just this huge drum covering all the wires. So we unplugged the dryer and waited for a couple of hours. I plugged it back in and when I pressed the start button this time it wanted to work, but again nothing happened. I tried to check the door to see if the lock wasn't letting the dryer start, but that seems just fine. Also, the light inside the dryer still works when it is plugged in. Any suggestions on what I should do to narrow down the problem?

Check 220v voltage at the wall plug.
Check door switch
In back pull off panel and check Thermal fuse at top of element case
Check white fuse lower left on return air (2 wires )

The slight hum you are hearing is the start windings in the motor. This is a common problem in the kenmore dryers and there is nothing you could have done to keep it from happening. the part number on the motor is 279827 and price from sears is $105.99.

Push the button manually and see if the light goes off . If it does , then the problem is the thermal fuse (a white slim piece of plastic with 2 wires connected to it ) located on the blower housing beneath the drum .

Check your GFI switch

If it is not the door switch,the dryer will start when you push the switch in while the door is opened and then you push the on the start button?

How old is the washer?

replaced thermal fuse and working like new

if it goes off then restarts its depends on model if its even heat the even heat board in the top is bad and if it beeps few times it also needs a thermaster which is a black thing inside dryer with 2 wires going to it
